Driving to Gulf Beaches from WDW Labor Day Weekend

Does anyone have any tips on the best routes and times to leave Orlando (Windsor Hills)to beat the traffic to Clearwater Beach on Labor Day weekend? Is there a less trafficked beach on the gulf that would be an alternative? Thanks in advance for your suggestions!
