I know my trip isn't until June, but I just have to ask.
I've never driven to Disney.
I have always taken a plane. I love the airport, I love flying, but most of all I LOVE the excitement of taking off and landing.

I can entertain myself in the car, that's no problem.
But my question is, do you still get that same feeling driving down?
Is it less exciting driving down?
How do you feel when you drive down?

I've only ever driven down so you don't get two sides from me.

Personally I loved it. As we got closer I got more excited, I drew disney stuff and listened the music all the way down there. It took us two days. The hotels every night we kinda lame. (Once we were driving around till 1 in the morning because we couldn't find a vacant hotel, never again.) I read and slept, a lot. Lol.

The only thing was I did get bored a few times and sitting in a car we had to stop quite a bit to stretch out, my legs were killing me from sitting so long. But once we got into Florida it was great. I love riding in a car anyways, like staring out the window at trees, listening to my zune, and just everything. My brother and I got on each others nerves a few times, but it was alright.

The worst part was driving back. It seemed like forever, and since we were already sad we were leaving I just wanted to get home to my own room.

I've never driven to Disney...
But I love long car drives!
I love sleeping in a car, it's the best kind of sleepy to feel. You just feel sleepy, not dirtbagish.
You can stare out the window.. my favorite!
Seriously.. it's great. Except, I sit cross legged on my pillow... hours and hours of sitting cross legged = bad for your knees. My knees are really messed up from that xD

::yes::
The rocking of the car and bumps and stuff puts me to sleep.
Except if I lay my head the wrong way it cramps really bad. I'd keep a blanket and pillow with you in your seat. I guess it depends on what you're riding in.

I've never taken the plane to Disney. When we drive I listen to music, talk to my mom, read sitting sideways so I won't get carsick and sleep. I always have blankets and a pillow. You'll be fine. I get excited no matter what.

I usually have a pillow underneath me, a blanket and sometimes a pillow for my head.
The only thing about sleeping, is sleeping sitting up is kind of hard, because sometimes your head bobs forwards.. worst way to wake up it's like.
ZZZZZZ -BOB- WOAH WTH.

driving is more exciting for me. cause you can sleep, then wake up and youre waaaay closer. and crossing state lines is fun too.

I know what you mean.
My mom would make fun of me because I'd put my elbow on the little side thing on our door and put my head on my hand or either put my head on the door.
I'd fall forward and wake up really quick and sometimes I'd suddenly intake a breath so they'd notice and laugh.
After awhile it just got annoying because I wanted to go to sleep and I couldn't keep my head from falling.

Well. I only drove down twice (I've flown probably 12 times.)
When I drove, one time I was 8, and the other time I was 10 with 2 2 year-old twins in the back. That time was...rough.

But I think driving down is more exciting.
Believe me, I completely get your love for airports, I feel the exact same way.
I'd live in an airport if I could. And Orlando Airport...it feels like home.

But driving down, you get to see yourself getting closer and closer. Which is really exciting.
Plus you have more time to think about where you're going and get yourself pumped up.

I drove down to Orlando with 2 of my friends last summer, one of the greatest experiences of my life:cool1: . It took us about 18-19 hours each way. The way there was amazing. We were all excited and pumped for what was ahead of us. The way back was horrible, it seemed so long and depressing. Just make sure you have a lot of music and snacks.

We usually drive to Disney and yes, I get just as excited.

We always stop at the same places too. The day we leave home, we stop at Baton Rouge Louisiana. And then we go from there to Tampa Florida. And then we go from Tampa to Orlando and stop there usually around early afternoon-ish. And stay here! At the castle hotel. And that day we eat lunch at Cafe Tu Tu Tango and then go to Downtown Disney (the back way-my mom and I don't want to see the 'official' sign until we go to check in the next day) and eat dinner at Rain forest Cafe.

And then the next day we wake up UBER!early so we can go and check in to our resort (usually the Wilderness Lodge). :thumbsup2

IMO, flying's not as fun. And you are forced to sit in this crowded plane with a bunch of random people you don't know. When you drive, you get to stay in your own, personal bubble with just your family to deal with. No crying children or old men hacking up a hairball in your general direction. And! You can stop at the totally awesome Florida welcome center where they hand out free orange juice (really-they do. :D)

Yup. Driving is definitely just as exciting-if not more. BUT! You need to make sure to play this sometime during the drive:

My mom always does when my dad starts getting all grumpified-it's hilarious. ^__^

I've always thought driving to WDW would be so cool! Granted it would take forever, but as long as we gave ourselves enough time then it could be cool.

im on 11 trips about half driving and half flying and i must driving for me is less exciting going there. but i meen come on its a disney vaca its still exciting traveling there! bring an ipod and a good book and chill. starwars novel anyone?

I like driving a lot better then flying. This year my family and myself will be driving down(18 hours). We are thinking of stopping in Georgia. My 2 younger sisters like watching movies while I will read most of the way down. My family is looking foward to the ride. I hope you have a safe and fun trip.
Jessica :) :) :)

I've never drove to Disney but go on like 8 hour car trips every year and the longest I've ever driven is 12 hours straight. People think that driving home feels longer but I don't. I think driving to my destination feels way longer because I'm excited for the trip ahead.

I have done both take a plane and drive from pennsylvania.
I LOVE driving down more than flying. I think its so much more fun, dont get me wrong i love flying places. I just feel like the anticipation builds up because it takes 18 hours for us to get down and you know your going to disney and caint wait til you see the sign. Its so much funn!

ahaha, thanks so much everyone (:
I'm looking more forward to driving now!
I really can't wait.
As long as my little brother and sister don't scream and have hissy fits, I think I'll be fine. But then again, why would they have a fit when they know they're going to wdw?!
:upsidedow

It's still a magical arrival. I love arriving at the resort and having the bellhops rush to open our doors. The greeters at the GF are real cuties...
