I'm sorry for this un-magical question, but unfortunately we can't reach DL by teletransportation...:sad2:
I'll be driving to DL from Las Vegas on Tuesday, 4/29. Jillfelice has alredy been so kind to tell me that I will need 4-6 hours for that, but what route would you suggest after leaving I-15? At what time would it be better to do it?

After DL I'm leaving for Hollywood. I'm already planning to leave after 10 am to avoid rush hour; what else can you suggest, route-wise or other, for a total newbie to LA traffic? :scared1:

Thank you!

We drive down from Canada on a regular basis, the section from Vegas to Ball and Harbour takes us about 4hrs. We have travelled that stretch at various times of the day, and I can't say that I have really noticed any difference in traffic density. For the trip in from I-15, use mapquest and have whomever is riding shotgun navigate you in.

From the I-15 you will will go west on 91 for maybe 20 miles and then south on 57 for a few miles. Exit Ball Road or Katella and go west.

It will be a happier trip if you can avoid standard rush hour times. I agree with the PP that it will take about 4 hours - maybe a little more - unless you hit traffic. The traffic flows mostly to the west on 91 in the morning and to the east in the evening.

As for Hollywood, if you leave at 10AM to avoid rush hour you will end up burning a good chunk of your day right in the middle of it. It is not that far from DLR to Hollywood - maybe 40 miles - so if you travel during non-rush hour you should be there in an hour.

If it was me I would travel to Hollywood either early morning at 5AM or late evening after 8PM. That way I would not burn time up mid-day for transportation.

Have a great trip.

Thank you very much!
I see I must still think it over... luckily i have some time left!
