I asked on the transportation board, but I didn't get any help, so I'll try here. We're staying at the HRH, but we're driving over to the MK for MVMCP. We have dinner ressies in the park for 5:30pm that night. How long would it take us to drive from the HRH to the MK-including time to park and take the monorail?

Trying to remember.....probably Spidey or someone will know the answer to this better. I think it took about 35 mins in the traffic over to WDW, then parking mono-rail another 20 mins, then walking time - I'd leave about 4pm and arrive early having a look around the shops for a few mins beforehand.

I do not have the answer to your question, but would like you to know that the printed directions the concierge gave us to get from HRH to Animal Kingdom Lodge were inaccurate! This of course added to our drive time. It did not help that we waited until the last minute to leave because we really did not want to leave UO for the World--but family obligations beckoned. I would make sure that you have directions independent of what the concierge gives out. For the record, all other information we received from the concierge was on target.

PS The Lodge is phenomenal and we had a great dinner at BOMA. If we are ever persuaded to visit the World instead of UO, that is where we will stay.

I would be safe and go with 4P like Selina suggested! That should give you plenty of time to park and get where you need to be. I imagine that 5P would be rush hour if you are doing this on a weekday.

IMGONNABE40!,

How funny they gave you wrong directions to WDW! Must be a master ploy ;) Good idea to have the directions before hand. I'm happy you enjoyed eating at BOMA were spliting a stay there with Universal in December!

If you are going on a weekday especially on Friday expect about a 45 min drive to get to WDW if you use I-4.

There is a back road that you can take from the HRH but there are several turns but it will be much faster on any weeknight. If you make a right out of the HR (Universal Blvd) and go down to the last traffic light it will be Turkey Lake Rd (you will see Dr. Phillips HS in front of you) and make a left. You will go through about 3 traffic lights from Universal Blvd. At the 4th light it should be 535 you will make a left go down about 1/4 mile to Hotel Plaza Blvd. and you will see the main entrance to WDW on the right make that right. Take that down to the end of the road and you will make a left (Buena Vista Drive). You can then follow the signs to the Magic Kingdom. Basically you will go through about 4 lights (not too sure about this one) you will pass MGM on the left and you will make a right just past the Dolphin and that road will lead you directly to the MK parking lot.

Robert- Very good directions! I was hoping to keep the backdoor route just for us Transportation Engineers but now the cat is out of the bag. I have to pose the opposite direction question for a Friday afternoon peak hour, specifically this Friday at about 4-5 from Naples on I-4 to HRH. My experience has been the northbound traffic is worse during PM peak (4-6). There is a consistent bottleneck at Sandlake exit. Do I exit at 72 (old28) Bee Line and take Turkey Lake north? The intersection of Turkey Lake and Sand Lake is my biggest concern. I've waited for 4 signal changes there turning from Sandlake to southbound Turkey Lake. Does northbound Turkey Lake function better on a Friday afternoon?

Last July we drove from the HRH to the Dolphin in less than 20 minutes. Of course my nephew was driving and he doesn't believe in speed limits.

I agree. Take the Turkey Lake Road/Palm Parkway (they're the same) to 535. After you pass the intersection of Turkey Lake Rd and Central Florida Parkway, you'll see that the road is very quiet.
