We are coming down in November and staying at the Caribbean resort. We woukd love to drive through the campground to see what it's like. Do they allow this?

It's generally not allowed to drive around the Fort with a vehicle, although it is allowed with the Golf Carts. That said, however, is it done? Sure, but again, it's discouraged because you really need to go slowly, particularly in the loops. Also there is really no place to park (or even pull over) in a vehicle other than the "Sites" so maneuvering around is a challenge particularly if you wanted to spend more time in an area looking. Also consider others pulling their rigs in or out can cause additional problems.

I don't know as if your MB will allow you direct access to the Fort through the main gate, so you would have to go through security. If you have a reservation, you can park in the main lot and catch the bus. I suppose depending upon the CM at the security gate, they may or may not allow you access if you give them a reason of "You want to drive around and look". You best bet is to express a desire to talk to the CMs in the building about a future visit, and then get their suggestions about how to check out the rest of the resort area.

I would suggest hopping the boat over from MK, and tour it on foot.

And prepare yourself for a full day of walking. (it's a mile from front to back as the crow flies, and fairly wide too)

Maybe a better thing is the Boat to the Fort, bus (orange) to the Meadows Trading post, a short walk behind it to rent a bike and do a "Bike" tour of the fort.

If money isn't an issue, perhaps you can rent a golf cart for a day to check it out.

As I typed above, I couldn't help to think if it wasn't possible to make an arrangement to MEET another DIS board member who already has a GC and borrow it (or share it or whatever) particularly if they are planning a full "Park" day while you want to tour the fort. Just a thought.....

I agree take the boat from magic kingdom and rent the golf cart to tour around.

Agreed about taking the boat over to visit. The campground is not really set up well to see by car... Or just change your reservation and stay there because it is beautiful. We rented a cabin for our last trip and the kids loved it.
This site has a very expansive list of photos for a virtual tour:

1) Driving in the campground to look-see is not permitted.
2) It would be a mess with lots of cars, and REALLY dangerous.
. . . kids and campers walk around all the time
. . . sometimes kids are not as careful/watchful as they should be
. . . there are slow-moving bikes and golf carts everywhere in the roadways
3) And, the camping "loops" are only a little over 1-car-wide.
