Driving - stop in Washington

Anyone driven from Toronto and stopped in Washington then continued on via I95?

Hi!

Not yet, but it's my plan for next year. Washington is a great place. I was there a couple of years ago, but want to stop in with the kids on the way to WDW.

I'll be keeping an eye out for feedback too!

We have a couple of times. Although I love Washington, there are areas where you don't want to be. Neighbours recommended two suburbs, Crystal City and Alexandria VA, both are in good areas and the hotels are much more affordable. One thing you have to watch for are parking fees at most of the hotels. They're steep. If you plan on seeing some of the sights, try to get a hotel on or near the Metro (subway). It's cheap, efficient and a safe way to travel.

I stayed in Crystal City and was a quick hop from the subway. Washington's subway was amazing! Clean and fast.

I took the subway to Arlington Cemetary and walked across the bridge to the Lincoln memorial, Viet Nam Memorial, Whitehouse... and on and on. Granted my feet were killing me by the time I got back to the hotel.
