What would be the quickest route from Dallas TX to Orlando, and any must sees in between! Thanks

My smart-ee husband said: The plane!,the plane! but seriously. We live in Bossier City(Shreveport), so Take I-20E to Shreveport, get on 49S to Baton Rouge and hop on I-10 around New Orleans.Drive straight through to Fla.
This way took us 15 hrs. (Add to it 4 hrs from Dallas.)
We also drove from Shreveport taking I-20E to Jackson.MS. Then South on the turnpike. This was a peaceful drive. The highway is 2 lanes going in either direction, and it is divided in the middle by huge groves of trees. I made a mistake by thinking we needed to go to Pensacola. This was wrong, and took us at least 2 hours out of our way. Needless to say it took us nearly 18 hours this way.
Be careful of driving at night when you are close to the Gulf. It gets very foggy and I felt I could have easily slipped off the road. We forgot to make hotel reservations (it was spring break time, and not a room was to be had for any amount of money) So we ended up sleeping in the car at the rest stop.!!!!!!! Terrible!!
Anyway get on MapQuest to find the best route!! :3dglasses
