My family and I will be arriving in San Jose next friday. We plan on driving down Sunday evening to DL. What is the best route to take? Also, we dont have reservations until Tuesday so we thought we would "sight" see around LA. The girls want to go to Hollywood Blvd. What is the best way to get there? Thanks so much in advance!!!

From San Jose, your best bet would be to take 101 south. This will lead into LA and eventually you merge on to I-5 which takes you to Disneyland. It is a nice drive through San Luis Obispo (wave HI to me!), Pismo Beach and Santa Barbara. They are good places to stop and have lunch and stretch your legs. I may be wrong about this but I believe that 101 goes right through Hollywood. I am sure that we can see the sign from 101 when we go and I know that Universal Studios right there too. I hope you have a great time! :sunny:

101 is a long drive! You can take 101 South to 152 and eventually hit I5. Much faster. But, if you have the time, 101 is a beautiful drive!

Hi

we live in San Jose and TLUVSDIS' directions is the route we take when we drive down. You'll pick up I5 right before getting into Los Banos. Once in LA just keep going til you see the exit for disneyland - its right off the freeway. There will be lots of signs so you won't miss it.

We typically leave town on a Sat night about 6PM - make a pit stop at McDonalds on I5 and pull into DLH between 1030 & 11PM.

It a long boring stretch between Los Banos and Grapevine so bring some good music and gameboys for the kids so they don't get bored lol

to ask about more driving directions as the most direct route on a map is often not the best or fastest. So, if anyone has tips for the shortest or fastest routes below....

LAX to Disneyland

Disneyland to San Diego Mission Valley area

San Diego to LAX

LAX to DisneyLand Really depends on the time of day. But generally I would start on the 105 east and then go south on the 710 or 605 just to catch the 91 east. the 91 east merges with I5 south a few miles b4 Disneyland. The main objective here is to avoid the I5 parking lot as much as possible.

DL to San Diego head south on the I5.

San Diego to LAX would be I5 north and catch the 405 north right around the city of Irvine. The 405 takes you right by the airport.
