Driving: Pet Peeve

I hate it when people don't realize that the point of a turn signal is to signal that you are SLOWING DOWN to turn, not just that you are turning. Way too high of a percentage of people slow down completely and then hit the turn signal right as they are turning. You are supposed to put your turn signal on BEFORE you brake for the turn.

Yes! Yes! Why don't people get this?! It drives me nuts!!!!!!!!!!

I've had people suddenly brake and then after I've had to make a sudden hard stop behind them...then they turn on their signal. I am always like, "signal BEFORE you brake or else it defeats the whole purpose you putz!"

And just as annoying as the "sudden" stoppers are the ones who just seem to randomly start slowing down to a crawl and you're wondering what the dang heck? Are they running out of gas? Are they going to just coast to a stop and park in the middle of the road? Are they going to swing left? Right? Can I pass them? On which side? lol. THEN, as they start turning they put on the signal. Oh yeah that's helpful.

You've hit a nerve with me, Lou, you've hit a nerve.

The other day, while at the library I encountered a real nut. There were parking spaces everywhere, but this woman decides to stop right in the middle of the road way and open her trunk. What is she doing, cleaning out her trunk? It was right on the way to the book drop off. So people had to go through parking spaces (instead of using the road) to go around her. She was oblivious! :headache::sad2: I gave her the, "nutty buddy" look, but she was too intent on her trunk to get it.

Drivers like these cause wrecks every day.

The wide turn bugs me too. I assume they are used to driving a tractor trailer.;)

I hate when people are driving in the passing lane & not passing people. I caught my daughter doing this & when I called her on it she said. " I'm going the speed limit & can drive where I want "I told her only ********* do that"

Stupidity?
Because they can?
Because despite the VAST reduction in turning radius over the decades, some drivers stil think they 'need' a lot of space to make a typical turn?
Genuinely poor perception?
But, really - it's because they own the road :lmao: and the rest of us better just get out of the way!

warning: driving peeve threads tend to get "heated"

Really??? Stupidity? Do they act this way "driving" in the parks as well? Hmmm.......:confused3

I can't stand when people are RIGHT next to the right hand line, especially when I'm going through a turn hauling my horses. Yes, I do need to pull a little wide while hauling. If I hit a curb, my rig could flip. I've seen that happen, it isn't pretty. I'm hauling one of my guys today. I expect to get cut off, tailgated, and flipped the bird many times because most people don't understand how differently I have to drive with a trailer on the back of my truck.

Now that, I do understand. I just don't expect it from all vehicles. I've seen it from any size trucks to compacts.
