We are driving to Jacksonville actually for a cruise in March. I have driven to Florida twice once in Feb and once in October...no problems either time, but have decided I much prefer to fly. Unfortunatley, trying to get reasonable airfare for March break is crazy....even flying out of the States so we are driving....77/79/95 route. Anyone done this in March??? What is the weather generally like???

Thanks

Kim

We're driving down in March too, and we always fly out of Buffalo (we only live 45 min. away from the border), but as you say, very expensive for march break. Driving down 77/79/95 can be a little dicey in march in the mountains - have come across snow there before, and very dark at night with lots of deer around. I've decided to take the I75 this year as everyone tells me it's much flatter land, no mountains, and lots of places to stop. Although it is 3 hours longer, so if you're looking for shorter route, the 77 way is probably best. I'm the only driver taking four teenagers down for March Break, so I'm taking the best way for lots of stops in case I need to pull over and rest a few times. Have a safe trip!

Tracey - there are mountains in Tennesse, but if you've driven 77/79 they are no comparison. If you've never driven in mountains they can be quite spectacular. Plus the time driving through them in Tennesse isn't as long.

IMO I'd take I-75 with 4 teenager if for no other reason than your sanity. Get the Dave Hunter Along I-75 book and let them take turns picking out places to stop.

We are driving to Atlanta in March and I'm leaning towards I-75. I've driven 77/79 once in bad weather - it was December and it isn't something I want to repeat.

However, I'm going to check the weather a couple days prior, and if we are still getting this mild weather I'm going to take 77/79 because it is shorter.

See y'all on the road!!
