Hi everybody new member here. Has anybody driven to Disney in December. Do you go 79-77- 26- 95 or straight down the 75. Leaving from Niagara Falls on the 19th or 20th. Any help would be appreciated.

I have and I would stick with 75. The other way is to curvy, hilly, and foggy in bad weather. I love the other way in spring or summer for the scenery.

We use I 75. It was recomended to us because of winter driving by our car plan and we have always had good luck with it. It's a lovely drive. Once you get on it just stay on it . It's not confusing at all. The road is in good shape, with lots of restaurants and motels. We always make a point of stopping at Corban Kentucky to go to the first KFC. There is a museum there, and there is a car wash beside it where we get Ontario salt washed off the car. Also gas is cheaper there, a mile or so off I 75.

From Niagara Falls you are far better to go I77/79 IF the weather looks good. We have travelled the past two January's this way and have ony hit one really bad storm where we had to pull over for an hour until daylight (we drive all night while our kids sleep)
Plan for both routes and watch the weather network and check www.weather.com for Beckley WV. You should be able to determine if there are any major winter storms heading in either direction. I have had some nasty storms between Ohio and London, Ont as well so either route is suseptible to bad weather. One time we had hotel reservations for both directions and just cancelled one the day before when we decided which way to travel.

Have a great trip!!!!:teeth:

Ah, the endless debate ...

Again, my vote - having done both several times - is the 79/77/etc. route. It's a shorter drive for you by a wide margain, and has just as many places to eat/stay as 75.

Now, I've heard weather brought up often as a consideration, and I agree there is the potential for hazardous winter driving along parts of the 79 route. However, the same is true for the "Snow Belt" around London, which you would be going out of your way to drive through to get to 75. My wife and I will be using 79 when we return home after New Year's in Orlando, and I'm not worried - I'll just keep an eye to the sky ...
