Driving in December?

We have our vacation booked right now for October. I've been thinking about changing it to December, so we can enjoy all the festivities. My husband anad MIL are concerned about the weather from Nova scotia to Orlando. It's a valid point. Just wondering if anyone has any input on this.

Actually it should not be that bad...

We drove in February this year and had a little trouble in NY State when it snowed but we were staying with friends and just stayed till 11am instead of 8 am...

December should be good as once you are past Maine, almost no-one has snow at that time...Just make sure you put an extra few hours in there for your trip and have good tires and you should be fine.

It is very cool to drive and literally see the seasons change before your eyes. We thought that a stop each day to see a roadside attraction was a good way to break up the trip.

Us Maritimer have a long way to drive but it is nice.

Take the 81 till you pass DC then switch to the 95 there...GOing through New York and DC are too hard on me on the 95...TOOOOO MUCH TRAFFIC! but the 81 is nice and gets you there without much hassle. You can even stay on the 81 much further south if you want to drive the Blue Ridge Mountains.

Actually, we'd be driving from Nova Scotia to Ontario to pick up my MIL, then heading out.

I want to change the dates cuz then the kids won't miss so much school, plus thought Christmas in Florida would be a blast!!!

Then definately take the 81 as far down as possible.

On our first trip we left from Ottawa and crossed at the 1000 islands and took the 81 down...It was great...Have a good time.
