Maybe a local would know and could help.

We have 5:30 dinner reservations on a Wednesday at a place called WP24, a restaurant located at 900 W Olympic Blvd, LA (seems like it is downtown, in the middle of high rises.) -I don't know anything about the place, someone else in our party picked it for a parents night out. But I will be responsible for getting us there. We're staying on site and have our own vehicle.

How much time should I allow to get there and what is the best route? (mapquest suggests 1-5 to 10, but the picture looks like it is I-5 to 60. oh wait, looks like 60 turns into 10......)

TIA

Yikes - Rush hour... There are some LA locals that should be able to help you out more with time, but I once went to visit a friend in Santa Monica and I left her place at 3:00 PM on a Thursday and it took almost two hours to pass the exit on the 5 that I take to get to Disneyland. The first hour I remember only moving 13 miles (and posting about it on my facebook lol). I'm not sure if that was typical or what but it turned me off from driving north of Disneyland!

Yuck! we might be better off getting to downtown LA much earlier the reservation time. What is there to pass our time if we do?

I'm not too familiar with downtown. The tourist stuff like Grauman's and the Walk of Fame is 9 miles away from your restaurant according to MapQuest...but 9 miles can take an hour to drive in stop and go traffic with lights. I'm really hoping one of our LA posters comes to the thread. I'm in San Diego so while I'm used to traffic, LA is an entirely different animal!

I used to live on that side of town and did the drive down to Disney frequently. You will want to take the 10 interchange. Keep in mind that it can be confusing - just keep to the "center" of the right lanes and you'll be fine.

Once you are on the 10, it's a quick connect to the 110 (Harbor Freeway). However, I would take the newer exit that dumps you onto LA Live Way, which takes you right next to the Staples Center. The restaurant you are going to is in the LA Live Complex, so that is perfect.

It will take you anywhere from 1-2 hours to get to this area, although traffic is "opposite" going into downtown on 5 North.

If you go earlier - like 2pm or so, there are plenty of things to do in the Downtown area. I would recommend visiting the Walt Disney Concert Hall - home of the LA Symphony Orchestra - which has a free architectural walking tour. It's an amazing piece of work.

LA Live is an easy time-passer alone, with shopping and such. Bargains can also be found in the fashion/garment and jewelry district and is only a few blocks away.

Hope this helps!
