We are staying in Windsor Hills for our first trip. I'm wondering how easy it will be to get to the parks. I'm guessing there are probably giant signs pointing you to the different parks once you get on World Drive? I've seen people mention a back way to Animal Kingdom, does anyone know it? Are places like Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach easy to find? We're also going to Fort Wilderness, DTD, and to the Boardwalk area to ride bikes. We have a GPS, should I not worry and just punch in each place the morning we're going there?

From Windsor Hills there's two ways: Go up to 192 and turn right and after a couple of miles take the exit for World Drive, can't miss it. OR
You can take Sherberth Rd to Animal Kingdom and then access the rest of the parks from there.
It's easier to show you the shortcut on the map than to try and tell you. It's very easy once you've done it.
When you come back from Disney via the Shortcut you should follow the Disney directions to the Animal Kingdom area, then as you get near the AK entrance stay to the left for AK Lodge. Take a left turn at the lights this will be Sherberth Rd and it will take you out to 192. Cross 192, take a left onto Funie Steed, right on Morgan Williams, right onto Old Lake Wilson and right into WH.
Click #1 for Windsor Hills then zoom in a little and click Line #1, red line. This will tell you and show you the shortcut.

Not hijacking but THANKS!!! I really appreciate this info too. We are heading there in Oct. and I was just wondering the same thing :).

Thank you so much, that is awesome, just what I was looking for :worship:

You're welcome. Keep the speed limit on Sherberth, others have said it's a speed trap but we've done it many, many times and haven't seen a cop.
Also for DHS it's quicker to go via World Drive off 192. You can exit right into the front entrance but using Osceola it will take you to the back entrance. It's only about a minute longer so no big deal.

thanks.

Driving to/from WDW is fairly simple. It's easy to get turned around once you are actually on WDW property, so familiarize yourself with a map of it so you know where everything is.

We only used the Sherbeth road shortcut once. I didn't think it saved that much times (maybe 2 minutes?) and it's kind of ugly back there, LOL. We loved driving through the gates and saying hello to Mickey every morning. We never encountered much traffic at all.

We did the Sherberth entrance every day and it was so quick. We found staying at WH and driving to the parks very easy.

Thanks a bunch. Sorry to hijack but as the previous poster said, we too are going in October and could benefit from this info!

The Sherbeth Road is quicker. We actually timed it :)

Watch for U-turns on 192! People do it ALL the time and don't always look.

Take Sherbeth....192 can be messy with traffic pending on time of day and time of year. I liked the Sherbeth Road drive. YOu pass some Disney offices (the Retail buyers building for one as I had business there). MK is your furthest park as I recall - AK the closest - you will see the Tree of Life from Old Lake Wilson Road. You will still end up on the same road as everyone else going to the other 3 parks so you will see the Tower of Terror sign etc......
