In September, DF and I will be going to the World and will be driving. :goodvibes I was just wondering if anyone has drove there from St. Louis? If so, how long did it take? Has anyone drove straight there without stopping (except for food and bathroom breaks)? What did you think of the drive and would you do it again? Thanks for any info. :flower:

We are driving from Gardner (KC suburb) end of Aug so I'm interested to see what people say. We have DD4 and DS2 so we plan on breaking it up. We are leaving Fri @noon and stopping in Paducah. Then Sat driving to Valdosta GA. That will leave less than 4 hours for Sun when we check in.

Depending on your speed and number of stops, the trip should involve approx. 20 to 21 hours of travel. In round numbers, its approx. 1100 miles. It's interstate just about the whole way. It can be done without stopping at a motel, but it would be best if you could switch driver's from time to time. Short stops for fuel, or a the rest stops, are helpful in keeping you alert. Have a good trip :smooth:

Thanks jctwizzer
DF has his mind set on doing it all at once. I'm working on him to leave a day earlier and get some of the driving out of the way. I don't have no problem with his thinking but I would rather take our time and not feel so rushed getting there. Maybe your answer will help me change his mind :)

It took us 20 hours from SW Mo-NIXA. WE are driving down in Aug, this will be the fifth time we have drove to WDW. WE like the drive if you have the time... We are packing our bags now 30 days left- week at WDW- four day DCL--- GREAT TRIP AHEAD......

:cool1: We drove from St. Louis Sept 2003. It took us about 17 hours straight. We left approx 1100PM and arrived @ WDW approx 530PM. DD8 and DS2 did fine. They slept most of the night. Also, having a portable DVD player was a great idea. Be careful going thru Atlanta,GA the early morning traffic was horrible. Also, we said that driving back home was the hardest...I think if we were to drive again we would probably stop somewhere for the night. Good Luck and enjoy your trip! Also, if you have AAA they can print out a trip sheet. :cool1:

Sounds tooo long for me. With gas prices now, it is almost as much as airfare. Look into Southwest DING specials. They had another one today for $86 each way! We are going in October, with our 3 kids and took advantage of these good prices.
