I have looked on-line for directions and i get MANY different routes. I want the fastest way. some have me driving straight down going 395 to us-97 then on th i-5, another route is going to seattle and then straight down and another is 395 to i-85 to us-95 ( going through idaho and nevada) before hitting ca. which way is the best and fastest or is there a differnt way???? Thanks for all the help.

I think Mapquest will do a comparison of routes, i.e. time and distance and interstate for you.

If you can do it, it is awfully nice to fly from Spokane. If you fly to LAX on Alaska's early nonstop you leave home at 5:00 a.m. and are going through the gates at DL before noon. You do have a lot of folks to fly though.

Kids fly free on Alaska right now to DL....I would second the "drive to the airport and FLY there" concept.

I would be concerned about two-lane roads for a large part of the trip if you use the 97 route.

I would also be concerned about having to add hours to the trip to get over to Seattle to start driving down.

The mountains may also determine which way you go...depends on the time of year on if you will hit mountain passes!

We are going to drive down. We have 4 kids and airfare is impossible for us. plus we are going to spend some days in san diego after disney and then drive up to universal for a week. We are going in the middle of July.

I live in the Tri-Cites and we always go 395 to I-84 to 97 to I-5. Beacuse of Portland traffic we have found this to be the quickest. If the traffic is not an issue than the fastest is 395 to 84-I-5 and then down. Postland is alway iffy. Which ever way you go, have a great drive.

Get to I-5 as quickly as you can and take that down.

Just wanted to say hi to aaroncg and lisah, I just moved to the Spokane area! Glad to see there are some Disney fans here!

I drive fromBritish Columbia usually twice a year.
Since you are driving in July and do not have to worry about the ice and snow I suggest you take 90 to Seattle all the way to #5 and then follow #5 all the way to the Disney exit.
I have driven from Pullman Wa and have found that going through Seattle is the fastest way. (Picked up a friend who works at the University).
I agree that going through Portland can slow you down. If you can drive for twelve hours straight, I would suggest to drive through and stay south of Portland on the first day. I have found that the drive is very slow when following the highway from the Dalles until you get to Portland. Also travel through Seattle will be very congested.
I have found that leaving by 8am from Spokane will get you through both Seattle and Portland at the best times for missing rush hours.

I leave for Disneyland Friday morning for six days of fun and frolic. Needless to say: driving straight down #5.:wizard: :wizard:
