Planning a trip for 10/31-11/9 for my mom and me. In October of 2017 we rented a car dirt cheap for a one way ride from eastern PA into FL, dropped the car off at SFB and flew home. On the way to my happy place we spent a few days in St Augustine - absolutely beautiful!

I'm thinking about doing the drive down 95 again this year. We love historical areas, museums, points of interest, learning things. I love the beach, mom not so much but early November isn't prime beach time anyway so no biggie. We're not shoppers or major foodies. So... with all that... does anyone have a city or area to recommend we visit for 2 1/2 ish days on our way to Disney World? :drive::thanks:

Savannah GA, it is beautiful with those amazing oak trees and historic houses. It is worth a trip all itself. I feel safe in saying if you like st. Augustine you would enjoy savannah!

I was checking out Savannah, actually! Anything specific that I should look into?

When I went years ago we toured a few of the historic mansions. I would recommend looking into those tours as they were both educational and I enjoyed looking at the old architecture of the buildings. That and we just enjoyed walking around the city, it has a very different vibe from a lot of other cities.

Williamsburg, VA is about an hour East of I95 off of I64 and Charleston SC is also an hour East on I26 just as other options. You could also consider combine Savannah and Charleston depending on how much time you spend in both. Since you are from East PA I am assuming you have done Washington DC otherwise that would be my first suggestion.

I know this doesn't apply here but if anyone is driving and planning an overnight stop around Atlanta on their way to Disney World.....please please stay south of Atlanta! The morning rush is terrible as is most of the day. We try to go through later at night and make our stop at about Perry, GA.
