Driving from NJ to SC

DH's family is holding a family reunion in Myrtle Beach SC this summer. The actual reunion itself is 4 days Thursday to Sunday. SInce we are driving down we thought we'd use this time to explore. So I am asking my DIS friends
what is there to see between these two states?
We did Williamsburg VA two years ago for the last reunion.
The only thing I can think of is the Biltmore (sp?) Estate. I don't know if that would be too out of the way?
Anyway, please give me some ideas so we can start looking!!

There's so much to do in Myrtle Beach I would just go there. But you have Virgina Beach, Rehobeth, Kings Dominion, South of the Border (just a few minutes though, crazy tourist trap, but have to see once).

Biltmore is way out of your way.

Baltimore--Inner Harbor, National Aquarium, Fort McHenry, B&O Railroad museum

DC--Monuments/Memorials, Arlington Cemetery, Mount Vernon, Smithsonian, etc.

Civil War Battlefields--Manassas, Fredericksburg, Wilderness, Petersburg

Airborne and Special Ops museum in Fayetteville, NC

Barbecue in Wilson, NC (Parker's or Bill's)

Darlington Raceway in Darlington, SC (close to wear you leave I-95 to head to Myrtle).

Also, you could divert to Hwy 301 around DC which could take you close to Surrat's Tavern and Dr. Mudd's house in MD(you'd be travelling a similar route to what John Wilkes Booth did after assassinating Lincoln) and George Washington's birthplace in VA).

DH's brother lives in Northern VA we have been to DC many times.
What exactly is there to do in Myrtle beach? I mean besides the beach? We are staying at a resort called Seamist.
It has it own amusement park right there (I imagine it is like the NJ boardwalks? and a water park, plus it is right on the beach)
