We will be driving from NE Texas to Disneyland. For those who have driven what are the road like and is it a easy drive. We drive to Disney World about twice a year and this is a easy drive for us. I know Disneyland is futher but I don't fly. Thanks in advance for all your help.

I drove from Dallas to L.A. in the 70's and thought it was "easy" except for the mind-numbing boredom.

If you take I-40 instead of going through Dallas you'll hit some of the old Route 66 ("You see Amarillo - Gallup, New Mexico - Flagstaff, Arizona - Don't forget Winona - Kingman, Barstow, San Bernardino") which might be more interesting. I can think of side trips to the Meteor Crater, the Grand Canyon, and Laughlin, Nevada. Laughlin is a small casino town on the Colorado River near the southern tip of Nevada, about 25 miles off of I-40 near Needles, CA. It has some name brand casinos such as Harrah's, Golden Nugget, and Flamingo, and is known for rock-bottom hotel prices (about $30 a night at Harrah's, my favorite). And that's for a hotel on the river. Great buffets there too. But I don't know if I-40 is out of your way vs going through Dallas.

We are about 2 hours east of Dallas off I-30. Can you suggest good places to stop for the night. We always drive straight through when going to WDW. Thats about 16 1/2 hours from here. We are trying to figure out what the half way mark would be and how long it will take us to get there. My mom took me to Disneyland when I was 6 and she said it took here about 2 days to drive it.

Thanks for all the help,
Shannon

I drove solo and stopped in El Paso and Blythe, CA, 12 hours each day but that might have been during the 55 speed limit (can't remember). That was 600 miles each day.

I just asked http://www.mapquest.com for a route from Texarkana to Anaheim and it takes you through Dallas to Amarillo and I-40 the rest of the way till you get to Barstow. So you might end up doing Route 66 after all if you want to take their advice. I'm not sure how many hours you want to drive each day, but it sounds like maybe Amarillo and Flagstaff might be good intermediate points.
