Hi Everyone,

I've just joined DIS boards. There is so much useful info in this forum,
and I really enjoy reading the various posts!

We will be visiting Germany and Austria in July, and are thinking of driving
from Munich to DLP. Is this reasonable? Mapquest says it takes 8 hours, but
can this really be done realistically in ONE day. (DD is 9 and a DS is 5...)

Thanks for any insight on this subject!

Several years ago I drove from Augsburg (near Munich) to Calais. There was a huge stall on the autobahn and we still made the hovercraft. Took about 6-8 hours...if I remember correctly. I had been driving in Europe for several years by that time and was quite comfortable with the speed I was travelling (and yes...you can exceed a speed limit on the autobahn)....Mom wasn't :)

One thing that messed with us...somewhere in there was at least one time zone change....make sure you check that.

Good luck!

Lisavi - welcome to the Disboards :)

Welcome to the boards! I would say that drive is reasonable as I have gone by coach from Barnstaple (in Devon, England) to Flachau, Austria once before on a school ski trip - 26 hours!! Good luck! :)
