Well, I have not driven the whole way in a long time, since I discovered the Auto Train in Lorton Virginia. We did drive from Mass to Lorton in May for our Disney vacation and we left at 2:00 a.m. and did not hit one bit of traffic anywhere. We arrived in Lorton around 9:30. It was an easy drive with hardly anyone on the road until morning. We managed to go right through New York City around 5:15-5:30 and zipped right over the GW bridge. Like I said we hit no traffic at all. We were early for the auto train, one of the first to load our cars. We were a little tired but the train is so relaxing and we retired to our little private cabin early and got a good night sleep on the train so that when we arrived first thing in the morning (8:00) we were well rested and ready to go and still had our car with us. This is a great alternative to driving the whole way and allows you to still have your car with you. Good luck!
