We are getting ready for our first cruise and we are going to be driving up from Ft Myers. What is the easiest way to get their? How long does it take to get their? What time can you board the boat.
Thanks for the help.

Ft M is not far from Sarasota......we usually drive from Orlando but it really isn't that far. The port opens at 10am!

We are from Sarasota and we usually leave about 8 in the morning and always get there by 11:30 or 12:00 depending on the traffic. We also always stop for gas and breakfast on the way. We travel I-75 North to I-4 East. We take the (I think it is the 417 Exit--anyway it is the Celebration exit to the airport in Orlando). We find this saves the backups on I-4 and is much quicker (although it is a toll road). Then we get on 528 which is the Beachline Expressway(this used to be called the BeeLine Expressway) and follow the signs to Port Canaveral. If you leave by 6:30 or 7:00 in the morning you should be okay. Remember your room will not be ready until 1:30 so getting there really early is not really all that important.

Getting there early, by 10:00 IS important if you want to get on the boat early and start EATING:thumbsup2.
