We're driving for the first time and planning on leaving 7pm Friday nite. Plan on stopping in Florence SC, then doing the rest the next morning (it looks like a halfway point). I'll be with DH, DD (2.5) DS (4.5), new (coming!) minivan with movies to watch. We've never driven but seems like it'll be better than flying, which I've grown to dread with the children. Has anyone driven from DC area with some advice? We thought about going straight through, but I think stopping will be better. Found a Fairfield Inn for about $45 for the stop - anything better? They include cont. b'fast so that helps. Thanks!! Also - best place to pick up perishable groceries for staying at bwv???

Fairfield Inn is a really good choice in a budget hotel. Theya re generally super clean and well kept. And the continental breakfast is a real plus.

Your plan sounds good. Just remember to watch the weather both in DC and WDW so there are no suprises on the way.

I am from Fairfax Va. I have been up and down that path about 8 times its not a bad trip! I do it any were from 12hr.to 15hr.It all depends on the weather.(snow) I use Fayetteville,NC.for 1/2 point from FL. going to Va. You can stop at "So.of the Border" for a brake your kids will like it there! Have a nice trip. And drive carefully!! Rabbit.......ô¿ô:wave:
