We are staying at AKL in March and are taking a day to drive up to Jacksonville to go here:

Even though I live in FL, I don't get to the east coast often. I hope that some of my fellow north, eastern or GA friends could help me on the logistics of this.
I was thinking of taking 417 to Sanford then I-4 to 95 to get there in hopes of missing most of the I-4 construction.
Any other alternate route suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

That's the route I would take. Tolls would be around $8 each way. Drive time should be around 3 hours .

You will still hit I4 construction in Daytona but it's 2 open lanes each way. This is between SR44 and I95.

An alternative is Western Way to 429 to SR 414 to I-4 which would get you around the majority of the I-4 construction sites.

Thank you everyone. Someone at work suggested HWY 27 to State road 19 up to 17 and into Jacksonville. I may do that or take Hwy 27 to state road 19 and then 40 across to I-95. This is the kind of route I was hoping for. Very little to no highway driving.

It's very doable. Those roads are a mix of 4 lane, divided highway and 2 lane country roads. However, suprisingly, its the shortest distance and drive time going the US27 to SR19 to US17. Google maps says about 3.5 hrs and 164 miles.
