Hello-

I thought I would check here to see if anyone knew about the construction on I-69 in Michigan?

We are flying out of Flint for the first time in a few weeks, and when I map out the route on the mapping sites they tell me that there is a road closure on I-69 near Delta Mills.

We have not been up this way before, so I thought I would ask if anyone knows if the road is actually closed or is it just down to 1 lane? If it is closed anyone know if it will be difficult to get around it and back on I-69?

My Mom, the kids and I are travelling around 9PM, so I don't think the traffic should be an issue. My husband is coming in at 5AM, so again I think traffic should not be an issue. It is more of a lets be prepared if we need to schedule more time or figure out a way around this closure.

Thanks so much!!!

Here's the info from MDOT: I-69 in Shiawassee County

It looks like it's down to one lane. That project isn't near Delta Township, though. According to MDOT, it's the only project on I-69 right now, though. Which mapping site are you using?

If that is the road construction project in question, your only traffic trouble could be commuters from Lansing to Flint. I'm pretty sure first shift starts at 6:30 AM in most of the Flint plants.

Hello fellow fort wayner...

I havent been up to Flint but I usually use Rand Mcnally or AAA for planning and RC. With AAA being the best.

jenelope-

I am using several mapping sites.

One is directly through the airport hotel we are staying at, so not sure which that one is. I'm thinking it is mapblast though. I have also used google, mapquest and mapblast directly.

Mapblast and the hotels websites are showing the road closure on I-69, so I did search and found the MDOT website saying it was down to one lane. No closure was listed. I am thinking that must be the construction, but you never know.

I was just hoping a local could confirm this for me :) I just don't want to get there and have to figure it all out in the dark. Although, I know I could and probably there are signs directing me back to where I need to go.

It is just too easy to ask if anyone who lives or travels around the area has any info.

Thanks again for any info/help :)

Hello to you as well.

We do not have AAA, so I can't use their website to map our trip. I will look into the Rand McNally one in a few minutes though. Thanks for the tip :)

KathyR- I thought the info on MDOT was a little suspect. I've been stuck in a lane closure construction area on I-69 east of Flint and it didn't make their list! They have another tool on their site that lists up-to-date lane closures by route: MDOT Lane Closures

That's probably more than you wanted to know! I rarely make it west of Lansing these days so I can't personally vouch for it.

I 69 is down to 1 lane in both directions from marker 113 east to the county line. It will be very slow during the morning and afternoon commutes. Also, the exit ramps for Durand (I think 118) may also be closed for repair.

Great news!

I figured it would only be a lane closed. I can't remember 69 ever totally closing around here. Just one lane each way at a time, so traffic could still flow. Of course certain times of the day, you may not think so.

The times we should be going through there I don't think we will have any issues.

Thanks so much for the help! pluto:
