Driving down to Mickey's for Christmas!

So my little and only baby graduated kindergarten! This is his Aloha kindergarten (goodbye kindergarten) and Aloha first grade (hello first grade)
cassieNJ191.jpg

Then a few days later parents were invited to the kindergarten recap video party. This is Damien and his best friend Jarod

My DH couldn't come so I brought my sister in law!
upstateJuly4th2011093.jpg

These are pictures of our soccer awards day..... We had two games- a home and an away back to back with about a 1/2 hour break between so that they could eat!
They had a parade first- the sign was made by me!
cassieNJ199.jpg

This is our first game- we are white (away), Damien thinks that this little girl is his girlfriend, her name is Gianna!
cassieNJ223.jpg

The kids played better than I thought they would with the bounce houses and cotton cady, snow cones and dance contests going on while they were playing!
cassieNJ225.jpg

The second game they needed more motivation because they were really getting restless so I told them that for every goal you get you can get a ticket to dunk coach K in the dunk tank! Do you see how hard my son was trying?
cassieNJ246.jpg

And for the reward that day this is what they received!
cassieNJ277.jpg

this is Damien dunking his dad!
cassieNJ286.jpg

He couldn't hit the target so when he was told that was it for his turns he ran up and hit the circle before anyone could tell him no!
cassieNJ285.jpg

I guess that's what he gets for being the disciplinary!

Since we have started soccer and became the coaches we have bought a house in another town. So this party was to say goodbye to the kids ad also thank them for doing so great! We had simple hamburgers and hot dogs with salads to eat for diner(I bought/made everything myself, but some people did want to bring things so they did)! For playing things we had water balloon fights- I filled up over 1200 balloons with my little brother in law over the period of a week! One of the dads brought a bounce house that he had owned to the party as well and that was lots of fun for everyone until.....
upstateJuly4th2011148.jpg

the kids got me...
upstateJuly4th2011151.jpg

For dessert I bought them an oreo cake
upstateJuly4th2011095.jpg

And I also bought a lot of different ice cream flavors and toppings and tons of cookies. plus watermelon!
upstateJuly4th2011107.jpg

upstateJuly4th2011123.jpg

upstateJuly4th2011100.jpg

Notice in the pictures that all of the women are serving the kids- well look at what the men were doing... playing soccer!
upstateJuly4th2011130.jpg

Poor Damien ate so much ice cream that he got brain freeze (he's not really allowed to have too much sweet stuff and since I wasn't fully watching what he ate he took advantage of it!
upstateJuly4th2011133.jpg

All in all we had a really good time! Me and Kaung are going to miss those kids!

Upstate is my favorite place to go anytime other than in the winter;)! So my DH took us on a surprise trip to get my mind off of everything that was going on! He arranged everything that we did all on his own and I was SO SO happy- all I had to do was pack the clothes! When I say upstate I mean everywhere because we usually stay in Lake George or Bolten Landing and then travel around during the day from there! This time we stayed at a camp site in Warrensburg and it was a nice 1/2-1 mile walk to the main house with the bathrooms, showers, pool, game room, and so on! We were staying on the top of the mountain and the edge of our campsite had bushes, we were told not to walk into the bushes because it's a steep cliff down with a creek at the end of the drop- well I wanted to see it so I help my camera up and out as far as I could and zoomed in and took a picture- this is what came out....
upstateJuly4th2011020.jpg

The guy at the main house said that it looks like I snapped a picture of a black bear, accidently I showed it to Damien and whenever at the campsite this is where he stayed
upstateJuly4th2011008.jpg

This is a restaurant that we ate at, the food was okay but the atmosphere for kids was great!
upstateJuly4th2011001.jpg

This is Damien with a stuffed bear in the restaurant- if you look close it kinda looks like they are both laughing!
upstateJuly4th2011004.jpg

I just love the view of the mountains! This picture came out really nice!
upstateJuly4th2011006.jpg

We took a few different hikes and these are just pictures from 2 of them
upstateJuly4th2011040.jpg

upstateJuly4th2011015.jpg

We BBQed one night
upstateJuly4th2011019.jpg

While BBQing it began to rain:scared1:! It was funny and sad all at the same time- DH had to buy more wood and restart the fire it was a funny mess:lmao:
upstateJuly4th2011021.jpg

We swam in the lake also it was clear and the water was nice! Then we went to Howe's caverns and Damien walked away from this robot telling our tour guide "That's a really nice man!"- he thought the guy was real!
upstateJuly4th2011046.jpg

Then we went to a restaurant in Saugerties, NY if you are ever in that area the restaurant is a little pricey, but everything is local and not even the meat is ever frozen! It looks run down, but SO SO good! Called New World Home Cooking Co.
upstateJuly4th2011090.jpg

Can you tell by the ring around his mouth he didn't like the food  I was honestly surprised he did because he's usually pretty picky about new places and they don't really serve "kid" things on the menu for kids it's more elegant kid food!
upstateJuly4th2011089.jpg

That was it on the way home K wants to have a mom and dad only trip in Sept. I told him I'm all for it as long as Disney is paid off by then;)! We went home to find that another young friend was killed in a fire the night that we were having the rain trouble! He was 26 years old named Henry Zdenek, today I go to his wake and tomorrow his funeral! Please pray for his family, they are pretty nice people!

Wahoo, you are back!!! (With lots of pictures even better)!

I sure was missing you! Sorry for the 3 funerals!

Sounds like (and looks like)you had a crazy June, with lots of fun!

Yikes :scared1: about the bear, we had a brown bear around our cabin this past week...I never saw it but our neighbors all around us claimed he was around. The morning I snuck off in the dark with my car and phone to make my ADRs he was on the back porch of our neighbors cabin which I was parked about 300 feet from...of course it was dark and I did not see him, but they swear he was there about the same time I was! The things we do on our 180 day mark! :lmao:

The soccer party looked like a lot of fun...typical men, let the women feed and watch the kids...while they play. Good to know that things are the same back east as they are out west! I love:love: the picture of you and your husband!

The picture of Damien at his Aloha party is pricless! Yeah for 1st grade!

Thank you for being so happy I am back, makes me feel a little better!!!!

Yeah the funerals have been hard- at my families funerals we laugh and talk good times of the diseased, but at these they were all mourning and such- I felt so weird! One of them were for a family that I was very close with- that was the hardest! It was my best friends brother got caught in a fire in Selden, NY it was all over the news and such, DH has been coming with me to the funerals but this one he refused to go because it was also the brother of my ex boyfriend! How childish can DH be? But it's all okay now, they are all buried and I am going to check on my friends mom later in the week with some food food for them!

I love that photo of him from his graduation! They are too cute and I really ca't believe that I'm putting him on a bus to 1st grade in a few weeks!

We are having a movie night tomorrow night- Peter Pan! I'm going to copy a couple of ideas! Then I'm going to do the cars day next week or Nemo I'm not sure it depends if my friend can come! Maybe both since we have missed so many:rolleyes:!

That is a little scary about your bear! At lease mine would have to climb a steep cliff to get to us, yours was right there! And I hear that they black bear (which is what it would be for me is harmless! They said that brown and grizzly are really mean tempered!

So any movies planned for this week? I'm going to o research for the Peter pan, CP and Osborne! If I find answers first I'll let you know!

We did Peter pan and tinkerbell last week too...a double feature. I will try to get mine posted tonight!

Sorry I have not been around much. My last two months have been crazy.

I just wanted to say I love all the pictures. Your ds is too cute. :goodvibes

Childish maybe, I am sure that he felt a little insecure about the whole thing. I think it is a man thing...he was you ex and they just don't understand. I am sure your ex's family really appreciated the support and comfort!

Finally all caught up. Love all of the pictures! Love the picture of Damien as he's trying to dunk your DH :goodvibes I cannot believe that you got that close to a bear, I would have totaly packed up our stuff and gotten out of there, can you tell I'm not the camping type :rotfl:

Sorry about your loss, it's always the hardest when they are young and it's unexpected.

Yeah we talked about it, they are more than just exes and I think he understands now after coming with me this evening to see how they were doing! He more accepts it and understands! Thank you though!

Thank you! I know we had 8 kids on the team-including Damien, and some of the faces on those kids were priceless, they were so determined to dunk him in! Yeah the bear was scary! I love to camp though and I LOVE upstate so if I had chickened out I would have never gotten K to let us camp on the mountain again! I just made sure that there was NOTHING out when we went to bed and the only thing in the tent were blankets and pillows:lmao: I was scared he would com if I didn't clean the campsite up really well after every meal:rotfl2: now that we are home little did I know that K wanted them to come because he's never seen one up close:scared1: Oh my!!!!

Last night was really fun! My husbands boss gave us tickets for field level row 9 to see the Mets vs the Phillies! We had lots of fun- I don't have a picture of it but Damien got a foam finger and was taught how to "chant" from the guys in the row behind us and he had an awesome time! He is usually told to be quiet but he was told to get loud when the cheer meter came on!
This is what the field looked like with no zoom or anything!

Damien playing around....
71511metsgame003.jpg

The guys that taught Damien caught a foul and gave it to him!
71511metsgame004.jpg

The Mets did loose though 7-5!
71511metsgame005.jpg

We got to go on a fireworks night!
71511metsgame006.jpg

This is a video of Damien dancing to the music that they had the fireworks going off to! It's in my facebook so I hope that you can see it!
Damien's Dancing!

My next update will probably not be until Monday I think but we are going to be having a movie night tonight.... guess which movie!
peter-pan.jpg

What a great boss...how fun Damien had (love it when the people around you are friendly)!

Peter Pan night....:rotfl:????? I think we are officially movied out at our house for awhile. I had so much planned for HP week, but the kids just did not want to do the activities. It was hard trying to watch 1-2 movies a night after getting back from doing 4 full movie days in the mountains!

I am dropping my kids off in Colorado with my mom and youngest sister on Tuesday night Until July 30th to have some fun with my family while I start back to work, so no movie nights for us until August...a good breather for all of us.

Yep I could understand needing a break! But you did a really good job with all of them!

K does have a good boss- I worked on Sunday with him in shelter Island because they had to get the job done by Monday so his boss bought us a hotel room on Shelter Island and paid me $200 cash for the day of working- plus K got the money back from the gas I bought for the car and the food we ate! He's good to K because my husband works really hard and it's a small company so they have to wash each other's backs or his bosses company wouldn't be as successful either! Plus it doesn't hurt that I'm friends with his wife and drove the 1 hour to the hospital each time he had his kids;)!

On Saturday we had a Peter Pan movie afternoon! I had a bit planned for this thinking that my friend was coming over with her kids, but then I got a call from DH that he "needed" me out in Shelter Island that night so I had to cancel with my friends and I let Damien o about the plan while I packed and made dinner and so on! So needless to say we didn't get to paint the treasure chests, but that was fine because we really wouldn't have had time anyway for them to dry!

Earlier in the week I had made a treasure map for the kids to follow with pictures on it.
movienights017.jpg

Since it's hard to see I will explain! he had to start in the galley after coloring up a sail for his pirate ship, then he had to make his way over crocodile way without getting his hand bitten off!
movienights018.jpg

Get in the getaway "boat" and "paddle/peddle" to the dock(garage)- this face is like this because the seat became hot while the car was sitting in the sun!
movienights019.jpg

Sneak around the parked boat to make sure that no pirates are following you!
movienights020.jpg

Now run through the pixie dust until you can fly!
movienights021.jpg

Swing through the vines and walk 30 paces to the Indian village
movienights022.jpg

Rain dance through the Indian Village
movienights023.jpg

And the treasure is buried where the lost boy sleeps
movienights024.jpg

This is the stuff I put inside- an ocean book to connect to the next movie night(finding Nemo), a growing pirate, a bag of bubble gum gold, a glow wand, and some Cars 2 candy since we will be doing that movie shortly too!
movienights016.jpg

For food we had Pirate ship pizzas, gold nuggets (corn), croc crunch (carrot and celery sticks with dip), and fruit swords! To drink we had Tinkerbell's you can fly punch (iced tea with orange sherbet and pop rocks on top)!
movienights025.jpg

For dessert we had buried treasure (pudding with crushed chips ahoy on top to look like sand and in the middle of the pudding I hid a Ferrero Rosher (spelling?))- they were pretty good!
movienights026.jpg

Next movie night will be on Thursday with Finding Nemo!

Oh my, what fun!! :banana::banana:

I know you always say you get these ideas from others but still..... what a great mom you are to set this all up :woohoo:

Damien looks like he is having so much fun. I'm soooo impressed that he does all this without anyone else around. No way my kids will do this stuff on their own. Tooooo embarrassing! :lmao:

Oh I am so excited that I had to jump on here and tell everyone! You guys are the only ones that would understand more money to spend at Disney!

Anyway, I was just playing with numbers on the Disney website for my sister in law and then showed her what we were paying and :scared1:it was cheaper than what I am paying now!?!?!?:scared1: So I quickly emailed the travel agent and she looked it up herself then emailed me back a little after and :wizard: she got our bill $200 cheaper than what we were going to pay! She is amazing:worship:! And that was without a code of any sort- that makes me wonder you guys should play around with the numbers too! But YAY for Disney!!!!

Thank you! Yeah I am a little surprised that he does it too, but he loves it- I think that I caught him at the perfect age for it all (he's 6) so he's still a kid, but he has an older kid abilities? make sense:confused3? I don't think that I would do them if he didn't want to....well maybe I would:rolleyes1

Great job on the Peter pan night! I loved your treasure hunt... What a fun way to incorporate the movie places into it!
