We shall be driving down to Gatwick tomorrow (Saturday) and wondered what sort of traffic to expect around the M25 from the M40 to the Gatwick exit - any locals out there?

We are in not any real rush (apart from the usual holiday excitement) , but don't want to get down to Gatwick too early for Twilight checkin, or get stuck in the traffic for hours :)

It can get quite bad around the M25 around Heathrow but normally clears once passed the A3 junction. Can build up a little bit on the approach to the M23 but should be OK. Once on the M23 all the traffic will be coming the other way (assume you are travelling in early evening) from Brighton.

The title of your post really made me laugh - it looks like your fingers got all tangled in the excitement. Hope you have a wonderful holiday! ;)

Tim,

The M25 near Heathrow is always a bit of a 4-lane car park due to shear volume of traffic and variable speed limit restrictions.

Best to check out Ceefax or the AA web site for any major delays before heading out.

If you have a O2 phone, you could dial 1200 for a motorway report - (not sure of the cost for this service but it's not cheap).
