I really need your help!!

On Tuesday, DF (Darling Friend) and I started talking about an EXTREMELY last minute trip to Disney but weren't neccesarily serious. By Thursday, this plan of ours was growing feet. We finally got the o.k. from both DH's and when I just called to make ressies for a Monday night check-in MS is closed, naturally, from Charley and will not reopen until Monday!!!

As crazy as this may sound we are still willing to drive down w/out ressies and hope for the best that we get something for M-Thurs. night. We would like a studio and we'll stay anywhere. What do you all think of the chances?

I can't believe this stupid storm is happening. We've never thought to be this spontaneous before and now this!!

Thanks for your help,
April

I have heard people post they have called the resort directly to check for availability on the weekend when MS was closed. Could you drive a route so you could avoid the storm? Good luck whatever you decide.

call OKW and SSR - your best changes - ask the hotel directly - since member service is closed

OKW - 1-407-827-7700

This storm is going to head UP the east coast with possible flooding and tornados. By the time you get to Florida the weather should be all cleared up, but driving down could be bad depending on how fast/slow the storm moves. Good luck, but I really would check the forecast and be prepared for a long, out of your way drive.

I think it's probably a real bad idea. Sounds like this storm is doing some major damage and Florida will most likely be in a state of emergency. Also, you will be driving through the remnants of the storm.

When you get to WDW, most of the hotel rooms will be filled with the evacuees from the rest of Florida. All in all, I'd save this trip for another day.

If you still want to go through with this trip, I'd wait until tomorrow to make a final decision. By then you'll have a better idea of what damage was done. I wouldn't call the resorts today -- they have their hands full. Tomorrow is another day.

I would have to agree. At least if you wait until tomorrow, you have a better idea where the storm is headed and what driving down might look like. I love Disney too and would go in a minute, but I would have to think twice if my life might be at risk. If you decide to try, be careful! And be safe!

We drove down from Virginia in the wake of the hurricane last September (can't remember the name). It was nice that very few cars were on the road, but it was extremely challenging due to the number of trees and other debris laying on the interstate. We got to see an army of repair trucks heading north later in the morning, and I suspect that if we'd left a little later the drive would have been much slower with work crews cutting up the fallen trees.

Please be very careful!
