We will be flying Independence Air out of Buffalo. The airport is located at 4200 Jenesee Rd. Cheektowaga, NY.

I assume to get there I:

1) follow the QEW to the end, go over the Peace Bridge, go to I-90 (I have directions from the I-90 to get to our overnight hotel on Dick Rd., Comfort Suites).

My dad just told me that I cross in Niagara Falls and the airport is right there. That confuses me. I want to make sure I am heading toward the right airport.

Are there more then one?

Any tips would be appreciated.

We don't cross at Niagra falls, we cross over at Fort Erie. The airport is about 15 mins. from there.

I fear your father might be thinking of the Niagara Falls Airport -- mostly a US Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve airport, I believe.

If you Google Buffalo Niagara International Airport, you will find the appropriate website with directions available.

www.buffaloairport.com gives a great map to the airport.

I always cross at Lewiston/Queenston bridge so I can stop at Tops on Niagara Falls Blvd and grab my "beverages" for the pool and hottub at the airport hotel. We also stop there on the way home and buy groceries to take home (lots of great items we can't buy here)
Good Luck!

Actually you can get to the Buffalo airport by crossing at Niagara Falls or Queenston. You have to take the190 over Grand Island and then exit on the 290 which goes right to the airport. It is quicker than going through downtown Buffalo.

We always cross at Fort Erie and find it quick and direct. DH says there are fewer tolls this way too ~ on your way back home there is a .50 I-190 toll plus US$2.50 at the border.

Once you've crossed the Peace Bridge and gone through the customs booth, go directly to the far right and follow the overhead sign I-190 S. Then watch for I-90 E via EXIT 1-52 on the LEFT toward BUFFALO AIRPORT/ALBANY. Watch for EXIT 51E, Hwy 33E, towards the Airport. Turn right onto Dick Rd. It's very easy.

If you have time, the Galleria Mall is at the Walden Ave. exit, on the right hand side of the I-90, just before the airport exit. There's a Disney Store there.

Thanks again for the tips. DH and I get confused on one way streets in downtown Peterborough so believe me we needed these hints. The last time we were in Buffalo we drove around for an hour looking for a hotel which we had stayed at the month before!

Please don't tell me there's a DIsney Store in Walden Galleria. LOL I am trying to get DH to stop at Yorkdale Mall en route (tried to use the HUGE pet store as an excuse, the kids thought it was a zoo the last time we were there, they went nuts over it). At Yorkdales Disney Store a ton of T-shirts were on sale for $5.99 but the kids had NO interest so I left the store empty handed. DH said he will NOT stop at Yorkdale since he wants to get to Buffalo and relax for the afternoon, NOT SHOP!!!! YIKES!

This may be a stupid ?? but here goes. We are also flying out of Buffalo - coming from Kitchener. My kids would like to cross at the Falls to see all of the ice around the falls. When you cross at that bridge do you connect with I-190 right away??

Thanks

When you cross the Rainbow bridge you go straight down the street. Niagara St. When you get to the Rainbow shopping center you turn right. There are signs to direct you to the 190. Mapquest has some good directions

Just so that you know - you cannot see the Falls from the bridge - the railings are too high....you will want to drive along River Road to get a good view. Better yet - if it's not too cold - take a walk along the edge!

You can also stop on the American side. There is an obsevation tower just over the bridge. Not as nice as our side, but also not as crowded and you don't have to pay 20 bucks to park for 10 min.

We had thought of driving around and viewing the falls - but yes getting out and parking is rediculous on our side. We may just stop on the American side.

Thanks
