Driving Directions: Santa Barbara, San Pedro, DL

Just want to make sure Google is giving me good directions.

Santa Barbara to San Pedro -- 405 to the 110 looks like the only route since I don't have a boat.

But how about San Pedro to DL. Google suggests 110 north to 91. What about 110 north to the 405?

Thanks! I don't mind a bit further route if it avoids me sitting in traffic. Gotta love that LA traffic.

Wave to me since you're going to pass my neighborhood (where the 405/110/91 all cross) on your way to San Pedro.

For San Pedro to Disneyland ~

I think that if you're in San Pedro, the best way is 110 to 405 to 22 to 5 - I've driven that route before (below it's the green arrows to the red arrows).

You can also go over the Vincent Thomas Bridge & the other big bridge to Long Beach and take the 710 to the 405 (below it's the blue arrows to the red arrows).

You can see the three routes below:

110 north -> 91 east -> 5 south (green arrows)

110 north -> 405 south -> 22 east -> 5 north (green/red arrows)

Vincent Thomas -> Ocean Blvd -> 710 north -> 405 south -> 22 east -> 5 north (blue/red arrows)

We're going to be at the beach in Portugese Bend -- someplace new for me so it should be fun. We'll wave as we drive through San Pedro!

Is any one route more scenic? It may be dark when we drive it. Just want the easiest and one least likely to hit standstill traffic or get me lost.

You must know someone to be going to Portuguese Bend. You'll be driving along a very scenic part of the Palos Verdes Peninsula. You will also be near the Wayfarer's Chapel, commonly known as the Glass Chapel, and I recommend you stop there if you have a chance. It is small but really beautiful. Here's a link:

Also, you will be in the same general area where Pirates of the Caribbean was filmed (well, part of it - the fort part). They used to sail the Black Pearl to San Pedro & Redondo Beach when they weren't filming.

Pirates?! Really! With as many times as I have seen all 3 films I can't imagine what scenes were filmed there. Is there anywhere you can go and immediately recognize it as from the film?

When I was searching this forum for San Pedro, I kept seeing references to the Black Pearl. I bet that was a sight to see!

I stay at the college campus at the Family Vacation Center (FVC). It's a fun, different, kind of vacation.

Oh, me too! We went the summer of 2008 and 2009, along with a visit to LA as well. We went to go whale-watching. Next time we go to LA, I'm afraid we are going to have to skip SB in favor of driving south of LA instead.
