Ok like an idiot I though Marathon Weekend ended with the 1/2 marathon on Saturday morning... We are coming in saturday night (driving), and I was going to stay at POP and then move to OKW sunday morning.

Yeahh... Sunday morning near where the Full Marathon Starts. So now I am waitlisted for a studio at OKW for saturday night. Crossing my fingers, but can someone tell me how insane it will be to get from Pop Century to OKW on Sunday Morning (around 9 or so) or if it will even be possible?

Also would there be any other resort (on property or off) that would be easier to get from point a to OKW on Sunday morning? I doubt it but I thought I would ask.

Thanks in Advance!

Jennifer

You may be in luck. The marathon does not go directly in front of Pop Century. The start of the race (which, yes, will cause some closures in front of OKW) is at 5:30 to about 6 am. All the runners will have cleared that area well before 9 am and they *should* have roads open. Leave some extra time, in case you don't get to take a very direct route from Pop to OKW, and be patient, but I bet you're going to be ok with your plans. :goodvibes

Then, come over to Epcot and have a beverage in the World Showcase and cheer me on as I drag my tired body through there! ;)

Sounds like a plan, and yes we have been to Disney so many times we are very go with the flow people. Thanks so much for your reply. :)

I am working on preparing for the 1/2 marathon in 2013, Im at 6 miles running (10-11 min miles) ... half way there.

Based on past years, I don't think there will be any closures on the route from Pop to OKW. You will turn right out of Pop onto Victory Way, then right onto Buena Vista Dr., left on Bonnet Creek, and then right on Vacation Club Way to OKW.

The only problem may be heavier than normal traffic due to traffic diverted from other routes, which may cause you to sit through multiple light changes, particularly at the left turn from BVD onto Bonnet Creek. It's normally a 10-15 minute drive; I'd expect you'll make in less than 30 minutes.
