Driving between Newport beach and Disneyland

Can someone tell me the best route to go between Disneyland and Newport Beach, and with traffic patterns is it best to take the reversed same route back or is there a different way to go? Any idea how long the drive will be between 10-2 and how long for the return trip if we stayed at the beach until about 4 and got into the heavier traffic? My husband lived in Southern Cal many years ago and still thinks he knows his way around, and the best way to go- he does not! likely never did! Trust me we need help!

Take it till it ends. Stay on the road
Make Right at 22nd Street. (Pier).
Have lunch at Rockin Baja

10-2 should have little traffic. After 4 probably not.

We got to NB in 20 min from DL last time (Jan 08) - I 2nd the above directions. And if you don't get good fish where you live (we're in AZ) go to the Crab Cooker. YUM!! Also...there's a donut shop across the pier, OMG I love that place. I pack on calories when we visit NB.
