Driving back to Windsor Hills at night?

I am finding as I get older I don't see as well at night anymore. I can see the road/red lights ,stop signs fine. I just can't read street signs (not speed limit signs) as well and if lighting is poor driveways can be a problem if I don't know when to expect them.

I have driven in Orlando before but briefly just from Pop to Sea World. Is it easy to get back to Windsor Hills after dark? Are the street signs easy to see? Is it hard to get lost? Yes, I know I can use GPS or something like that but I tend to get stressed when I don't know where I am going and traffic is trying to run me over. We are going in mid May so I hope traffic is not too bad. We want to stay for the fireworks at Magic Kingdom one night and possible go to Disney Quest after dark.

No worries, easy as pie.

Most direct route is World Drive to Irlo Bronson Hwy (192), west to Old Lake Wilson Rd, south to Windsor Hills. This intersection is huge, with 2 dedicated lanes turning south from 192 onto Old Lake Wilson, and 3 through lanes, and you can't mess up and turn north (right). Windsor Hills has sign much like those marking nicer neighborhood.

Tip: These turn lanes are controlled by signal that stays red a looooong time. I found I could continue through the intersection on 192 to the next intersection, Morgan Williams, and turn left from an uncontrolled dedicated left turn lane. Morgan Williams deadends back into Old Lake Wilson LN about a mile down the road. Turn south and continue to WH.

Caveat: This area of 192 is hyper-developed and after you cross Old Lake Wilson there is 1 left turn lane into the businesses before you get to the turn lane for Morgan Williams. Additionally, Morgan Williams is marked only by a traditional road sign. BUT! You can orient yourself after dark by 1) remembering that Morgan Williams is the 2nd left turn lane after Old Lake Wilson (1st being entrance to shopping center) 2) looking for lighted "Westgate Towers " sign and turning left just before it.

I use this route every day going out as well, so if you do you'll see exactly where the turn is before you have to make it at night. Or look at Google maps.

'nother tip: Leaving MK for TTC after fireworks, you'll see million people lined up for monorail going to TTC and a few people in line for monorail going to resorts. They're monorails - they're going to the same place. The latter just makes a stop or 2 before stopping at TTC. Take the monorail for "Resorts."

If you need shortcut from WH to AK, just search Sherbeth Road shortcut.

This map has the Sherberth Rd entrance on it. If you're going to take that back from Disney just follow the signs for the Animal Kingdom area then as you get closer follow AK Lodge signs. Stay to the left as you pass AK park. Turn left onto Sherberth at the first set of lights after you go by AK entrance. Follow Sherberth out to 192 then either just cross 192 to Entry Pt Rd (what Sherberth is called on that side of 192). Take a left at Funie Steed and a right on Morgan Williams and right on Old Lake Wilson OR you can turn left onto 192 from Sherberth and then at the next set of lights take a right onto Old Lake Wilson and on to WH. Watch for the Black Angus Steakhouse which is near Old Lake Wilson Rd.
Line #1 (red) is Sherberth Shortcut to AK and rest of Disney.

Keep the tips coming about Windsor Hills. We are renting a house June 2014. How long does it take to get to the parks? What grocery stores and restaurants are located near by?

We stayed at Mystic Dunes and that light is FOREVER.

We booked a house in Windsor resorts in October. Does anyone know how far of a drive that actually is to MK?

For MK, you park at TTC and catch the monorail. It's about 12-15 minutes from your door to the lot.

AK is the closest at about 5-7 minutes and Downtown Disney as about 15-18.
