Christamae,

I started reading your report yesterday and have been amazed at your writing. You have a wonderful gift for capturing the moment. You made me feel like I was there with you.
You and your family are an inspration to us all. Here's a little pixie dust for a speedy recovery. :wizard:

Thank you all for your care and concern. Looks like you won't have to wait too much longer for an update.

I’m home! I actually got home last night. The whole thing was crazy. We got to the hospital at 6:00 PM Friday. We had to be admitted through the ER for insurance purposes. But my GI doctor didn’t leave a note saying to admit me. The GI doctor there wasn’t sure what was going on. So I had to go through the whole ER procedure. And they did a bunch of tests. Blood test. Urine test. X-ray. Ruled out appendicitis, pancreatitis, kidney stones, gall stones, bowel impaction, bowel perforation, and no signs of infection (white blood cell count). At this point everyone is scratching their heads. The PICU attending even came down to talk with us. We know him very well. During my 6 ½ month hospital stay, he took personal responsibility for me and was an advocate.

He (Dr. Soifer) asked some questions and for our ideas. Ultimately I was admitted. The PICU even had to call in a nurse for me. And they got me my special order bed. I got up there about midnight and got in bed about 3:00. Mom stayed at the hospital to be with me (I can’t push the nurse call button or talk on the vent at night). We were under the impression that I was admitted for further testing.

But Saturday morning the hospital discharged me. Dr. Soifer knows my atypical strange ways and wanted me observed. I was discharged mainly because there weren’t any more tests they can do on the weekend. Also nothing life-threatening and dangerous is going on-we ruled out all the really bad stuff. I also have a pain med (Dilaudid) for when things get really bad.

I will have a CAT scan done this week (local place) to check for things in detail. My x-ray was very hard to read. Evidently I have a very interesting anatomy. All my organs got shifted around from my prolonged, severe scoliosis (125 degrees). And I am very compacted.

I will say that at the moment that I feel pretty good. But last night I was in a lot of pain. I am on a laxative ‘just in case’-although my x-ray showed no signs of constipation and I have been pooping…The pain fluctuates-sometimes really bad, sometimes bad but tolerable, sometimes okay, sometimes barely there. This is an improvement as before it was always there and awful.

We shall see what the CAT scan shows. Maybe I scared it into submission and it will disappear. ;)

In any case, I am home.

So this isn't completely off topic, I will have the next update Wednesday, June 13
