Drivers from the Northeast

We haven't driven to WDW in two years and are trying to decide between the 81-S, 77, 26, and 95 Route and 81-S, 66, 17, and 95 Route. In the beginning we used the second option, last year we used the first option to Hilton Head. Do any recent drivers have an opinion as to the current better way to go (considering traffic, construction, etc.)? We usually drive to close to SC/GA border for our stopover and then on to WDW the next AM.

I considered both routes for my trip last June/July, and went with 81-66-17-95. Route 17 goes through a couple of towns and can either be a great place to stop and refresh, or an annoying slowdown on the way. I haven't driven the other route, partly because I'd been advised that it adds unnecessary miles and time to the trip. HTH!
