We just drove here to wdw from Texas... I have never seen so many police officers stopping people and aiming radar guns in my entire life.
I don't speed, so no worries here, but I thought I would pass along the tip. It seems like they are nailing speeders as a national campaign. We noticed it at home quite a bit at the beginning of the month it seems like it is no longer an end of the month quota. They are aggressive. I really was amazed to see troopers on over passes. I heard a story recently on NPR that some places are making people pay fines on the spot. Be safe.

Thanks for the heads up! We'll be driving from IA in July so we'll be sure to mind our P's and Q's.

Well, now that the Supreme Court said it's OK for the police to kick down your front door and search your home based on suspicion, I guess aggressive ticketing is called for also.

It is "click it or Ticket" time. I am a big believer in fighting tickets (because 99% of the time I have gotten out of them). But fighting an out of state ticket is a pain!

You know what it is, it is city councils running out of money and having the cops trap innocent :rolleyes1 travelers with tickets that they will rush and pay so they dont have to come back to FL and fight it.

the FL state troopers have been out in high numbers on the turnpike. I drive the turnpike everyday for work and they are everywhere. We'll be driving to WDW Friday and will be going only speed limit since they've been everywhere lately. My husband is going to hate doing 65 the whole drive up, lol.

On our trip to Disney last weekend, we didn't see tons of cops of the turnpike, maybe 3 from Broward to Disney, but we were doing the limit the entire way, so we really didn't worry. However, on the way back we came down 95 and there were tons of cops on that road. I think we only did 65mph until we hit Palm Beach County, where everyone was flying past us even though we were probably going closer to 75mph. Last couple of days in our neighborhood we saw the cops pulling over people, they ticket them, drive around the block and pull the next person that was over the limit. Guess its time to meet the quotas!

Just back from a trip where we had to drive through Illinois .... I'd say every 10-20 miles there was a police car with someone pulled over.

So, not just in Florida.

Also, I'll admit that I drive a "tad" fast; however, the police seemed to pull over those individuals who are going 9+ miles over the speed limit. I do not agree with calling them "poor drivers" ... they know they risk getting pulled over and ticketed.
