Driver on Disney Bus Strangled by Tourist 10/12

I think Disney bus drivers are great, but I really don't think they have to put up with that sort of thing often. Most people I've seen at Disney act fairly decent.

LOL, you really are in Dream Land when visiting the world. I've spent many many days riding the buses on property. And there's some fabulous drivers (loved the guy that did the Fort route, at the Settlement and WL stops he'd stand outside the door and point out stars and constellations, really cool), but there's a ton of crazy guests.

It happens more often than you think, between the buses, waiting in line for a ride, waiting to see a character, people can turn crazy really quick.
The worst that I've seen personally, is character meet and greets. Make A Wish kids get highest priority in the park, their green stamp GAC card gets them to the front of the line for rides and characters. All character lines are wheelchair accessible, and a GAC card does not apply for Character lines. It's customary in an open area meet and greet, that the Attendant asks the next guest in line "There is a make a wish family, would you mind waiting a minute?" Usually a few families back, you've got some nimwitt loudly complaining about another family "cutting in line". It really makes you want to walk up to them and say "Would you rather be in the "make a wish line" with your child dieing?? Or be in this line with your happy healthy children that will be able to come back here time and time again??" Do you really wish death upon your child to be first in line?

I also have a handicap brother that's in a wheelchair. So I will go to the back waiting area, and the bus driver will load us first. The rudeness and snarkiness of the other guests is just unbelievable. It doesn't happen every time, every bus, but man it does stick when some one does it.
I wouldn't doubt for a minute if a wheelchair was loaded onto that bus, that those guys wouldn't try to have that guest's head too. And they really do come from all walks of life.

Watching the video I had to resist reading into it, but in any case, the guest was wrong. The driver, on a personal basis, may have had good reason to punch this guy, but right, wrong or indifferent, that would have gotten him fired by just about any company. I was surprised the people standing on the ground didn't back up in case the fight came tumbling out.

FTR, you do not have to be terminal to get a Make a Wish trip. You can be 100% recovered from whatever illness or condition it was with a prognosis for a long life.

So did the bus driver eventually drive this bus full of people, or did they get another driver? If it's true that the guests were thrown out of WDW and the resort they were staying in, Bravo! And exactly where was the "security" all the people were calling for? Didn't look like a guard in sight. :confused3

In watching the video again, at least the beginning, it does look like the bus driver touched the passenger first - whether he was just putting his arm up to block his passing onto the bus or what. It kind of looked like he had his arms on either side of the man? :surfweb:

I don't know how you can determine that from the video because no one would bother to start filming unless they were witnessing an altercation, or at least the beginning of one.

I know there's a few cases of children living well beyond their trip. But at the same time, there was a hard road to go down. Something that a Make A Wish parent would never wish upon another parent.

This is what is REALLY amazing. Choking and throwing babies is apparently okay.

Ok, I don't know anything about criminal stuff, but isn't this considered battery? And if so, shouldn't the police make the determination about charges? I mean, I can't commit a crime and then not be arrested because the person I committed the crime against doesn't want me to go to jail, right?

Why was the bus driver placed on leave? I mean it's paid, so that probably means Disney knows he didn't do anything wrong, but still...
Also, what was that guy's problem! Why do some people think they can act like that (and also lie about why when there are SEVERAL witnesses)?

They probably put him on leave to recuperate, without having to burn up his own vacation or sick time. Doesn't sound like punishment to me.

In the article, the person who filmed the video stated that she had missed the "most intense" part of the confrontation and had started filming after things had been going on for a little bit. So the driver may well have had his hands up in response to something that the passenger had done off-camera.

And also to keep him from being mobbed by people who want to see the "strangled bus driver." The public will forget about him in a week or two and then he can go back to normal working conditions....whatever that is.:lmao:

I think there are more than a few but you are correct in that no parent would wish the ordeal on eanyone.
