I have heard all info about the speed traps along US 19 mostly by Summerville I beleive, and a family friend actually experienced this last year. I have never driven this route as we usally take I-75 because we go in the winter months. But this year with going int he summer we want to take the 95 route to make a couple stops. So when driving the 90-79-77-26-95 route do you use US 19 between 79 and 77 or drive to Charleston and catch 77 there. Does anyone have an idea if there is any time saved either way and any traffic concerns. Thanks so much cause I would really like to put this debate to rest so i can finalize our route

I would definatley take 19....just do the speed limit and you will have no problems. We went through there 2 years ago and although CAA advised against it we had no problems.....just stick to the speed limit.

Coming back through PA last trip, we got a ticket for speeding while passing someone who we wanted to get away from. It wasn't that we were driving excessively fast, but we accelerated to overtake a bozo who was driving in an unsafe manner, so we wanted to get away from him. I think my point is that it's not always possible to do the speed limit safely, and that's probably what Summersville banks on. It takes more than the extra 45 minutes you need to go through Charleston to handle a ticket in the US.
