Our trip isnt until the last week of October and the parks seem to close moslty at about 6 pm . We are staying in FW and am curious if if make PS ressies at other resorts for after park closings , will I still be able to use resort transport (i.e. monorail , boat , bus ) safley to get back to FW ? Or should I just make my PS ressies when I want and drive ? Will I have any trouble navigateing from resort to resort and being able to park ?

We almost always take WDW transportation to the parks, but if we are dining at another resort, we usually drive. You will always be able to get back to your resotr with WDW transport, you might have to transfer at DTD later in teh evening though.

We usually drive to the parks, DTD, or resorts(Chef Mickeys), but that is because we have two in strollers and it is just easier for us.

I would plan on driving, while WDW transp. will get you there and back, it may take a lot longer.

Welcome to the Dis!

If you have a PS on the monorail line it is very easy to get there from FW. Just take the small boat from the Marina to the Contemporary and hop the monorail. The small boat runs till 10 p.m. The buses run till 2 a.m. You won't get stranded anywhere!

Come on over to the DisCamping board--we love to talk FW there!

We always take WDW trasportation. DH likes not driving on vacation. :)

How familiar are you with navigating the area? It seems dorky, since the road signs at Disney are fairly clear, but both of my parents have gotten lost and wound up driving around in Orlando...

I've never been to FW, so I can't speak for the transportation system there. But from WL, AKL, and POR we've always been very happy using the buses. The only place I'd advise against it is if you go to Pleasure Island, we never seem to be able to get a bus in less than an hour coming back from there.

I like the Disney Transportation personally, because it adds to the feeling of being "away from it all," in Disney's little world. And also, you don't have to find parking. :teeth:

we are also going in october... the main reason that mk is closing early on certain nights is for the mickey's not so scary holloween party.

so disney transportation is still working...

have fun!

disney will not allow you to get stranded... if necessary they will send a bus to get you!

we've never had a problem... we were even pleasantly surprised when HDDR let out, there were busses lined up right at pioneer hall just waiting to take us back to our resort... it made a few other resort stops along the way, but it was fun, the people were friendly, we really enjoy most of our bus rides chatting w/different folks...

DTD is a good transfer point in the evening (post-park-closing) hours but don't count on it during park hours as buses then are few and far between (or so it seemed... it's the only place we waited more than 10 mins!)

Thank you all for the info . I can now broaden my dinning choices knowing I can use Disney transportation to get to other resorts without fear of getting stranded like the Polynesian ( sp? )

As one member said, it's great to forget about the car becasue you feel so much more "away from it all".
WDW transportation is terrific and easy!

Have fun!!!

Although we have not stayed at FW for many years, I know we would drive for any PSs at a resort if we were to stay there again. It is a fun place to stay by the way.::yes:: It will just save so much time if you're going to a resort or even a park other than MK.

we used to stay at fw all the time...

any monorail resorts like at the Grand Fl. contem or poly take the contem boat from the fw dock and get on the mono (thinking it runs till at least 10, same with the boat but not sure how the party would change that, at least an hr after park closing) would also work for any epcot rest.

if there is a party going on that night at mk i would guess you should have normal bus transportation from there to any resort. during the party....again take boat to mk from fw dock and go from there or if it's not a party night or from
any place else take the buses. if epcot is closed ( or it's close to it closing when you might wait along time there) you'll have to go to dtd but actually the party probably works in you favor here...i'll have to think of that when we go in dec with the xmas party and buses!

we've been to wdw a number of times but the driving is confusing and there is always a lot of traffic so it's not like you can drive like a granny and read the signs, esp. at night...we drove once on one of the first nights last trip and husband( who drives in city traffic all the time) said never again! it's nice, but longer, to take the bus usually ( had a couple horror stories last time but oh well take the good with the bad)
