We plan on driving to Disney (FL) when we go in SEP 10 & will be staying at the All Star Movie Resort (ASMR).

Our first "visiting the park" day will be Mon 06 SEP 10 with the following ADR in MK.

9:15 AM Breakfast @ Crystal Palace - Character Dinning
1:05 PM Tony's Town Square
6:30 PM Contemp Resort - Mickey Character Dinning

Park opens @ 9AM and closes @ 11PM.

[Note the above is based on the ADR I had for 2009 same time frame but had to cancel. I'm sure I can get them again for the 2010 when my 180 day marker arrives.]

In any case my inital thought was to drive from the ASMR to MK and then from MK to the contemp resort for dinner & finally back to ASMR. Would it be better to take the busses or drive? How much time is needed for the busses from ASMR to MK? From MK to Contemp Resort? From any one point in the park to another. For example if I'm at contemp resort do busses go from there to everyother part of the resort (1 bus not multi-hops)?

Thanks

first off you can just walk from MK to the Contemporary....it's about 5-10 minutes depending on how fast of a walker you are...
I would do the car....not a great fan of the buses

I would say it depends on personal preference. We stayed at the ASMR in December and this time we decided to use Disney transport as opposed to a car. While we did spend a lot of time waiting for a bus, it made for a more relaxing, enjoyable trip not dealing with a vehicle.

The only time it became a major hassle was at the end of the day when the Magic Kingdom was closing, the buses were very crowded and sometimes the wait was up to an hour because the bus would be full.

To answer your second questions, we usually waited at the resort maybe 15 minutes for the bus and another 15 minutes for it to arrive. If you drive to the MK, you have to park, wait on the shuttle, then take the monorail or the ferry boat over. The bus from the resort will drop you off at the front of MK. To get to the contemporary resort from the MK you can use the monorail or walk. As far as the buses at the Contemporary no, they do not run to every resort. Typically, when going from resort to resort you will have some sort of a stop.

I'd recommend taking your car to most places. When you take the bus or disney transportation your on their timing and sometimes buses get so crowded. It's so much easier just to hop into your car when you want to and drive.

Not even close. A car is the best way to get around, if you have a GPS. If you don't, it's a toss up because you will get lost.

Unless you pay to valet park at the CR, you shouldn't be allowed to park there for the day. Parking at the resorts (self-parking) is not allowed for park access. So..if you do decide to drive, park at the TTC. Then take either the monorail or the ferry over to MK. Then you can either walk or monorail to CR for dinner. Then, either walk back to MK for more fun, or monorail to TTC and get your car and head back to your resort.
The bus is not going to be bad. Yes, they will be crowded at the end of the day. But if you leave the parks a bit before closing, it isn't too bad.

The buses at the CR will go to...AK, DHS, DTD. You would take the monorail to Epcot, and either monorail or walk to MK. Those buses do not go to other resorts.
