Drive or take buses?

we just about always have a rental car but very seldome do we use it
yes if we go to another resort for dinner we might use it
but now we have gotten to the point were we plan a meal at another resort on a non park day and just spend the day touring the diffrent resorts and taking some sort of disney transportaion to each one

We always drive down in our own car, and after we get to our resort, we park our car for the week!

We love not having to remember where we parked the car each evening, not having to find our way back to the resort when we are sleepy and tired from being in the parks all day. Plus, it's nice to have someone else concentrating on the road while we look out the windows and just enjoy the ride to the parks each morning!

The only time we drive ourselves is if we go off property to the outlet shops!

I would drive unless it's a very slow time of year. I don't care for Disney transportation.

Couple of points I want to make about Pop, parking and the buses. Pop has a lot more rooms than each All Star. We have had to wait up to 4 buses when going from Pop to MK because so many were going to MK.
Parking at Pop, I really dislike their parking lot. If you are in 60's, 1 of the 50's bldg or 1 of the 70's bldg (these 2 are closest to the lake). You will not be parking anywhere close to your bldg. I'm spoiled by AllStar where parking is abundant and close. Pop parking is very limited. We drove around for 5 mins last night before finally having to park at the very back of 50's lot. That combined with not getting cell service for AT&T we won't be back.
The bus stop at MK for Pop is the furthest one there is. Just makes you sigh a little.

We drive because at the end of the day I don't want to stand in a bus when my legs are about to give out.

I like to drive, especially to MK. It's just not the same arriving on a bus as it is riding the monorail through the Contemporary and I love leaving the park on the ferry so I can watch the castle the entire trip. Those two "rides" are some of my favorite at the MK. My kids also consider the trams to be some of the best rides.

We don't usually park hop unless we are taking a break and going back to our room anyway so we don't have to worry about getting back to our original parking place.

It's definitely better to drive to other resorts. It can take over an hour to get from some resorts to others (if you have to go to DTD first from POR, for example).

So do you park at the Transportation Center? In our prior visits (3) we've always stayed at POR and always used Disney transportation. However, last time we were there it took FOREVER to get to Animal Kingdom. If we stay at POR this coming visit (trying to decide between POR, Animal Kingdom Lodge, and Polynesian) I will drive to Animal Kingdom. Not sure about the others yet, but I'm not a fan of the buses. Even though its not far from POR to HS and MK if you just miss a bus you can have a rather lengthy wait.

It's personal preference. I like the buses. I don't really want to have to drive. Although navigating the property isn't that bad.
