My wife, me and my 1-year old son are taking another trip to WDW in Sept. We went in May and flew down and are considering driving for this trip. What are everyone's thoughts and how long might it take?

With the baby 18-20 hours.

We drive down from the NJ Shore most of our trips. It's about 18 hours we leave early 4am or so and have done this with two kids starting when the first was 5 months. Brought some books to read to them and some of those kid CD/tapes with their favorite songs and away we went. Oh yea can't forget the snacks :-) Stopped every 3-4 hours for a stretch. Most times we drive to Georgia before stopping for the night. Have dinner and then we can sleep late and it's a 5 hour or so ride the next day. On most of the return trips we end of driving straight thru, since by the time you hit N.C. Virg. border it seems a wast to stop.

Kids are older but we still drive but now have a tv/vcr combo but on this next trip we are going to try the auto train. It's not faster but figure it would something new to experience.

Good luck

We drove last summer with DD(1 year old) and 2 other DDs that are older. The trip took 18 hours from North Jersey. For us, it is worth it to drive because now DD(youngest) needs an airline ticket. So that is 5 R/T tickets. If it is just the 2 of you and the baby, I personally would fly while he is still free!

Hi Yankees,
I just went last week with wife and two kids, 7 & 3.
Flew Delta out of Newark.

7:10 am fight.
Rented car from National.
Checked in room.

In the AKL pool by 11:30 am!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enjoy either way you go, the important thing is you're going.

Don't forget if you fly and choose to get a seat on the plane for the 1 year old ask for a half price infant ticket.

Although we have never driven, we have taken amtak back in Nov 2002. It was alright, nothing great. We the flew in may 03 with our son (16months) on our laps. Never again. It was ok, but uncomfertable and he got sick on the way home. Now we are flying again in sept 03, and we got him his own seat. It was 1/2 price because of being a child. The flight should be much more enjoyable.

Have fun, and I would fly. We are leaving on a fridy night at 6:30pm and will be at AKL by 9:30pm.

We have done both from South Jersey. Usually when we drive it because of $$ and that we are visiting relatives in S. FL. We currently have a full size conversion van, so we leave about 9 at night, drive all night and all day before stopping somewhere. Last year we were going to Lake Worth, FL first and stopped in Daytona for the night. If we were going straight to the World we would have been there in about 18-20 hours. We like the drive, but we also like the convenience of flying!!

Good luck with your decision!
