We are contemplating a driving trip in our new car - Florida to New Hampshire to see grandchildren, NH to Cleveland to see daughter's new house, Cleveland to Northern Wisconsin to visit friends, Wisconsin to New Orleans (with a stop to see University of Missouri which DH hasn't seen since he graduated from there many many years ago and New Orleans back to Florida.

Has anyone made the drive from New Orleans to Florida? Is it a pretty drive? Is there anything to do or see along the way? Restaurants, etc.?

thanks very much.

We go that way nearly every time. We live in NW Louisiana, so we take I-49 to I-10. Then I-10 to Florida. We don't actually go to NOLA, just stay north of it on I-12. A pleasant ride, if you get off the interstate and take the beach road, you can drive along the gulf coast. But that's slower, too. You just have to plan the drive so you don't hit Biloxi, Baton Rouge, Mobile, Pensacola, Tallahassee, Gainesville, etc at traffic time. (or football time!).

In Mobile, you can see the USS Alabama. Also there's a Civil War fort just east of Mobile at Dauphin Island. Bellingrath Gardens are also nice. In Biloxi, you can see Jeff Davis' home. And a giant outlet mall just south of Daphne AL (right across Mobile Bay to the east).
