I know that drinks are extra on the dining plan, but it seems that they are very expensrive, even more than they are on cruise ships. Is this generally true, or have I just looked at the wrong places? :confused3

I understand the question.

I don't know what you are comparing it to or what kinds of drinks you mean....wine, beer, mixed drinks. Wine prices vary by the glass depending on the wine. I don't recall the price of a drink in an upscale WDW restaurant, but at home we pay $15 for a martini in an upscale restaurant.

I do know that the bar tab of our bill is always higher than the food prices...that is everywhere including WDW. Drinks are expensive, but they sure are good!

We brought my father and his wife along with us a few years ago. She's a martini drinker, as I was at the time, and we had a few each night. :) They weren't any more or less expensive than what we encountered in similar captive-market venues (cruise ships, theaters during intermission, etc.)

Alcoholic beverages are priced above what you'd find in the neighborhood restaurant or bar, and even above what you'd find on the Disney Magic (after 14 days on the ship I know this), but on the Magic you've paid through the nose for everything else, including your food, and most vacation destinations do charge more than the neighborhood bar does.

However, buying a beer at WDW costs less than buying one at any local sports arena around here. I had a slice of pizza and a coke at the MCI center awhile back and it cost $11!
