Hi everybody. First time poster here. I am going to Disney World on January 20th and just had a couple of questions about drinking around the world (showcase). My husband and I go to Disney every year, and this year he wants to drink beer around world showcase. I'm not a huge fan of beer (not a beer snob; the bubbles just upset my tummy!), and wondered if there are other alternatives.
Now, I will only be having a few drinks, as I believe one of us should be in control somewhat. What are some of your favorites? Is there wine tasting at world showcase? Thanks!!

Liana

Hi, I love the Riesling in Germany, Champagne in France and Frozen Margaritas in Mexico, these are only the basics, I am sure you will get more fun replies...defintely plenty of choices besides beer.

Of course there are plenty of options! There's a margarita stand in Mexico, and there are wine tastings in the wine shops in Italy, Germany, and France. France also has some other drinks in the outside kiosks but I like beer and wine so I haven't tried any of those yet - some type of frozen grand marnier concoction that gets rave reviews on these boards! I have tried the Bellini at at the outside kiosk in Italy and that's tasty. I think you'll find plenty to sample. Trying all the beers and wines around the world is our favorite part of the trip!

You won't be disappointed with the other options. France has some nice booze slushes, and I believe you can even purchase a card that is good for tastes of certain wines at Germany, Italy, and France (somebody else may well have better info on this than I do; we haven't done this).

We like sampling the wines in several countries, especially Germany.
In Japan you can sample saki - its in the far back left corner of the store.
:drinking:

Yeah, the Grey Goose Lemon Slushie at the cart across from the France pavillion is YUMMY!

Ok, THIS one I gotta try.

For the most part, I stick with wine. Have had great wine in France. One of our favorite traditions is sitting outside in England and having a drink while the kids sit with us and eat popcorn. Can't Wait!!!

Yes, the Grey Goose slushies are yummie, but so are the Grand Marnier slushies (also in France). We tasted many beers as well. So, here's a question.... What is the country 'Morocco' famous for? Deserts? Camels? Well, I can tell you, there is a reason you don't think 'BEER' when you think of Morocco! :lmao: It was not our favorite! Of course, we finished it, but I wouldn't get it again! Enjoy!

Well, most folks don't go to predominantly Islamic nations for the booze... :lmao:

These are all great suggestions. France, Italy, and Germany all have a large selection of wines. The Grand Marnier slush is excellent. Japan has sake and plum wine, both are good. The warm sake gives you a heck of a buzz  and the plum wine is pretty tasty.

Cad: I agree. I don't know which is worse. That Beverly is pretty awful. :scared1:

I just don't understand how it is the #1 beer in America. Give me a Stella or Peroni anytime. Man I would just love one trip to plop myself down at the Rose and Crown bar and stay 3 or 4 hours. :thumbsup2

Depending on where you are in New York, I guess the prices to drink around the world won't be such a shock to you -- but it's like $7.00 - $10.00+ per drink (beer, etc.). Which is why I've never done it -- although now that I've been to Europe and paid those prices, maybe I can handle it here, too!
Well, here now too -- I think it was $7.00 for a beer on my last air flight (it was at least $5.00 for marginal beer).

Again, thanks very much for all of your ideas. For the last poster, I am outside of the city, but I am expecting NYC prices. Some nightclubs in NYC make Disney drink prices seem extremely reasonable. lol I will just be having sips of my husbands drinks. I'm a total and utter drinking lightweight!

We are leaving Tuesday morning for Disney. I cannot wait!

Totally off topic, but anyone else going to be there between the 20th and the 27th? I'm staying at CBR.

Best regards,
Liana

I must say that I am looking forward to the Grey Goose Slushie's they are the BEST ! We tried to make them when we got home and they just are not the same.

I will be there January 23-30....

Yeah, drinking Strongbow cider or black & tans by the 1/2 yard. That would be awesome. Plus, you get to keep the 1/2 yard glass (it's plastic, but it's still pretty cool).

Hmmm... I've seen the Grey Goose slushies here many times, I'll better try this in our next trip. Thanks everyone.

Have a nice day and enjoy drinking. :lmao:

I am not really a drinker, but since I haven't seen it mentioned I will add my choice to the list. The only drink I will drink in Epcot is the strawberry daiquiris from Morocco. Heck, I had one last time I went and then thought it would be a good idea to buy the boys maracas in Mexico, which was a bad decision the next day.
