Drinking around the world?

We always buy a yard of beer in the U. K. it lasts longer than the little glasses! :thumbsup2

What are the prices of some of these drinks - Grand Marnier Slushie, Grey Goose Slushie, et al. I would definitely love to try something but don't want to spend too much! Thanks

Thank you everyone!!! These are some great suggestions! My boyfriend is a beer drinker, but I am not. I am most looking forward to France and the Grey Goose and Grand Marnier Slushies AND champagne, I may have to just drink around France for the day :rotfl: I also LOVE margaritas, so hopefully I'll get a good one  Bellinis and Lemoncello also sound delicious in Italy!! It seems like bf and I may be alternating countries...he'll drink beer in Germany, United Kingdom, and US, while I have the "girlie" drinks in France, Mexico and Italy! Can't Wait!!

I've read that the Rose & Crown in UK had good mixed drinks, I've never had one but they look pretty in the reviews.

I'm pretty sure they stopped selling those. Pints only in the UK now. :sad2:

Yep. The plastic half-yards (they never sold full yards as I recall) have been eliminated from the U.K. I was told that it was for sanitary reasons - the half-yards would have to be placed right underneath the tap and the tap touched the sides of the half-yard (which apparently was a cleanliness issue when folks came in for refills). The plastic pints avoid that problem.

Bonus question: although full yards were not available at Epcot (only half-yards), there were at least two places at WDW that served full yards of beer in real glass (not plastic) glasses. Anyone remember where? (I'll post the two places I know of later...)

One was Narcossees's I believe (Carlsberg).

I did this a few years back - didnt make it even half way around ... not that I couldnt have, but it would have ended up costing hundreds. Some of those drinks/beers are really good, but they arent worth what they are charging!

Well we made it around in one day about 4 or 5 years ago. I had organized a DIS Drink Around the World Meet. We had about 30 total show up. It was pretty fun. But those that made it were pretty toasted. We started at 11:00 am in France and ended in the UK about 5:00 pm. If you can believe a few survivors even went to PI later. I guess I am a lightweight. I barely made it back to the room.

Most of us had:
France - Champagne & a pastry
Morocco - Tangerine Daiquiris
Japan - Sake
America - Sam Adams
Italy - Wine
Germany - Becks & a brat
Norway - Carlsberg-Ringnes Viking Beer (I don't believe they have this any more)
Mexico - Margarita (DH & I had a Tecate)
Canada - Labatts
UK - Car Bombs

Yikes! We don't do that anymore. Now we split it into 2 or 3 days. I'm anxious next year to try the Lemoncello everyone is talking about. And I agree with those that recommended the Rosa Regale. It is excellent.

Where can I find Tangerine Daiquiris in Morocco? I walked through Morocco in July and did not see that at all!

I had a Margarita with all the flavors in July, and they added Green Apple to the flavors. I don't remember that from November '07.

Rosa Regale was delicious. I wanted to try the Bellini and Lemoncello, but I was not sure what they were so I passed.

Grey Goose slushie in France=Heavenly!
Sparkling Pomegrante Kir during the Food and Wine Festival was very good!

Can't wait!

Interesting since when we had them in December 2007 they were as stiff as I remembered them from Easter 2007. They Must be a little sporadic in their measurements...or are they cutting cost or were they running low on ingredients at the time? Hard to know unless someone has some recent experiences

I agree with you... They were extremely stiff when we had them last November... I dont mind a stiff drink but they were so strong that we couldnt finish them! Had I wanted a glass of iced tequila I would have ordered one...

I saw an episode on the travel channel with Samantha Brown and she claimed the best drink in all of Disney World was the Grand Marnier orange slushy from France. I defenately plan on giving it a try our next trip...
I have also heard nothing but good things about Peach Oolong Tea Schnapps Slush from Joy of Tea...
I cant wait to try them both!

LOL, you will make it all the way around. Just remember, eat as you drink, take it slow and you will be fine.

Canada, we get moosehead beer and popcorn.

UK we go into the pub and get the cheese plate with a beer.

France...we just drink..plenty of options like the Grand Marnier slushie, Nuvo, or a Kir Royale.

Morroco...we love the bakery..pistacio baklava and casa beer

Japan..go the back of the store for sake tastings. I recommend the sweet one and the unfiltered one.

US..Sam adams beer, you have probably tried them all, but if they have the Octoberfest or seasonal give them a chance.

Italy...go inside the shops and try a flight of wine, or try the Rosa Regale with the dark chocolate. Hubby also likes the Chianti they serve for tasting.

Germany...We get the brat with a frazenkhaner (spelling ) beer. Fantastic.

China...Wonderful potstickers in the fastfood place and wonderful drinks at the outside drink area..tea/fruity/alcohol....very good.

Norway...ugh...this pavillion just keeps going down hill. They have removed all the good beer and our favorites from the bakery so we really don't stop there anymore.

Mexico...margarita stand (we like the lime, reminds us of our trip to Mazatlan) and anything from the outside fastfood place is wonderful.

Enjoy

Orange Grand Marnier slushie at the stand in france. BTW it will contain more alchy than you expect. I ordered two once and was so sloshed I could not finish the second one. If you go during food fest, last year they had a baileys coffee frozen thing that rocked. It should seriously make a perm apparence on the world showcase.

WooHoo! Reading all these suggestions is really getting me excited! I want to try them all! We'll be staying at the BC so now I'm thinking this will turn into more of a nightly happy hour (with 1-2 countries a night) rather than trying to do it all in one sitting...can't wait!!:yay:
