My husband doesn't want to go to Disney this year. But, the kids and I do. So with this new rumor of Free Dining floating around on the boards he said he would be willing to go if it's offered.
Well now he says all he will do is stay at the hotel longe around and have some drinks. He is just really trying to make this difficult for me so I will change my mind about going to Disney this year.
If he wants to make it that difficult I will just give him more on his honey-do list this year which will cut into his motorcycle riding.:rotfl:
Anyway, my question to you guys is when I get him to the World Showcase in Epcot to keep him happy I will take him around the world for a drink in each contry (without the kids that is). So which specialty drinks would you recommed?

A few suggestions;

Mexico: Dos Equis Amber Beer (has to be ice cold with a lime wedge)
American Pavilion: Sam Adams Lager (tall glass, cool)
Italy: Lemoncello (ice cold)
France: Any wine, they're all pretty good
UK: Try the beer (ale) flight @ Rose & Crown; Bass Ale, Guinness, Harp, Stella Artois, Boddingtons Stout (all the best, one tray:thumbsup2 )
Canada: ANY Canadian micro-brew, very good!

Hopefully he has a strong constitution! My Dad always said "drink from one bottle" (to avoid getting sick:sick: ). Good Luck!

Not sure about specialty drinks - I remember getting some insane shot in Germany, but cannot remember the name - go figure. But I will say that drinks around the world is more of a challenge than one might initially think. There are 11 countries. Now, for those with a decent drinking capacity, this may seem fairly easy, but when you consider that any beers you have are pints, and they are frequently heavier, darker and with a slightly higher alc. content, you are really looking at 15+ (in terms of American 12 oz. cans). I have a reasonably high tolerance, but I still need to take my time so that I don't end up tripping over myself. In the end, this works really well because we get to see and do more, and there's no desire to rush things.

One other thought - I've never tried it, but in terms of enticing him to want to go, you may want to look into things like the Richard Petty race car driving experience - I heard it's pretty crazy and it may be up your husband's alley.

First of all, don't take your husband to the Magic Kingdom. I love the idea of the Richard Petty Driving Experience. It's a bit expensive, though. My 70+ year old father did it (not at Disney World) and he absolutely LOVED it. He could do that when you are at Magic Kingdom. When he's done, you could plan to meet him at the Polynesian lounge (Tambo Traders?).

At Epcot, there are a lot of choices. Beer is all over the place. I've found that wine (my preferred drink) is popping up more and more as well. The Kaki Gori stand in Japan has Saki (hot or not). Check the Italy kiosk for drinks. The France kiosk has some different things as well. Italy and Germany have wine tastings. Marghartas (sp?) in Mexico.

At Animal Kingdom, you have the Dawa bar - full bar service. And at MGM, there is a full bar in the back at the Soundstage Catering Company.

Don't forget the ESPN Club for sports and the Big River Grille for their awesome beer sampler. Those are a quick jog out the International Gateway at Epcot.

He doesn't have to stay back at the hotel. He can come with you and maybe, just maybe, enjoy an attraction or two.

Thanks guys I'm sure I can keep him pretty happy with all of those options.

Disney's Festival of Alcohol: InebreiaNATIONS! Sometimes late at night known as "The Electrolyte Parade";)

Animal Kingdom is also a great place for those who like to indulge. There is a full bar next to Tusker House back in Africa. Good drinks and they bring out entertainment every few hours.

First off he won't last all the way around the Showcase...at least not sober. My top 3 are:
#1 ENGLAND: Rose & Crown: Beer Flight or get Guinness, Boddingtons Stout...large glass.
#2 MEXICO: Margarita Stand...all flavors are great and these colorful drinks are a little on the stiff side when I had them...just past the cantina
#3 GERMANY: Spaten beer...outside stand on the right side of the village

Honorable Mention: France wine and champagne stand across from Chef les France Restaurant

I always get the Stella in the UK, and I never pass up those Margaritas in Mexico. Unfortunately I can't help you very much, as when I usually drank around the world I did it during food and wine, so my choices were different.

I never make it around, or if I do, we all split drinks. It'll get you good and silly.

I totally agree with you I don't believe he'll make it around the world showcase, and I am sure not carrying him around by no means. But, there is a drink that I had read about here on the Dis that for the life of me I can't remember. Someone if you could help me it was a drink in France that I believe I could find at the Champangne stand or something like that.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: Heck, take him over to ice station cool and get him a shot of some yummy Beverly:rolleyes1 :scared: :rotfl2:

Beverly: If you have a gag reflex, you don't need a finger.:lmao:

My husband and I have always said we want to do the Epcot drink tour. We always joke how you know you have a problem when Disney cuts you off.:rotfl: Here are my suggestions though. stick to beer or liquer, do not mix. And have some Gateraid and a banana in your hotel for the next day.

Tonya

Don't forget the caffeine: Viking Coffee in Norway is my favourite. Also, if you do take him to the Animal Kingdom, try him on Safari Amber. It's my favourite beer ever.

France ...Lemon and Grey goose Slushie <YUM YUM YUM>

My path is Margarita in Mexico -> Ice cold draft Ultra at the OutPost-> Kirin Light from Japan -> Stella Artois from the Rose & Crown.:thumbsup2

I'm thinking that it will be so crowded while we are ther (Apr. 5-10) that Drinking around the World is going to be the only thing we will be able to do that doesn't require waiting in an outrageous line! Do they give fastpasses for cocktails?? :rotfl2: I figure DD can hit all the Kidcot stations while we imbibe. :rolleyes1

We also must have margaritas in Mexico and Guinness or Bass in England.

One thing I haven't tried, but plan to next trip is a Kir Royal in France!
