I don't do it all in one day, but I usually will "drink around the world" during our visits to World Showcase over the course of a trip to WDW. The Rose & Crown pub is my favorite and I am not truly happy at WDW until I have stopped there for a Bass ale.

So, do they have a good variety of beer in the WS or is it pretty much the same in every country?

Each country has its own "local" beer (Bass, Harp, Guinness (I think) in England, Beck's in Germany, Dos XX (or whatever it is called in Mexico, etc.).

:cool1: I start off in France with a white wine, then have one in italy and germany. In Japan I tried the plum wine, but preferred the Ichiban beer. My dh bans me from drinking by the time we get to Mexico, so I have not tried the Margerita yet.

You better start at the other side of WS then so that you might try my favorite drink--Fiesta Margaritas' ole`! They are absolutely delicioso and I'm a beer drinker normally. It's terrible, my kids tease me about being able to get a Fiesta Margarita in 103 days--when I put away a few bucks, it's measured in the number of extra Fiestas I can purchase!

Don't feel bad, Chris82869--my husband and I love to amble around the World sampling the cocktails! We've had to skip a country or two along the way before, but we've done them all at one time or another. Looking forward to repeat performances of this event in June! It's much more fun in the sun than rain though--not enough dry areas to enjoy the beverages. ;)

How much do "grown-up" drinks (as my DD calls them) cost on average? ie, how many disney $ do I have to put away for one of those Fiesta Margaritas?

If I recall correctly, beer (16 oz, I think) and margaritas were in the $7 - $8 range.

I'm so glad someone else does this!!!!!!!!!!! We do the "beers around the world tour" every trip DH says it's his favorite part. Although, by the time we get to Morracco DH has usually had enough to give the poor people at the beer stand a little grilling as to why there is no "official" Morraccan beer.

Fiesta Margaritas are, I believe, $7.59. They are large though, not those small things they serve in the Cantina. You have to get the Fiestas at the margarita stand next to the souvenir shop in Mexico.

mmmm - I love the fiesta Margarita's! We've not done DATW yet, but I'd like to try it this trip (not all in one day, but throughout the week!). I'm not much of a beer drinker, though, I much prefer cocktails and wine. Anyone have any suggestions for some cocktails to try besides the margaritas at Mexico?

I got addicted to poolside/water park pina coladas in the afternoons. Those will put a pretty big dent in your pocket too!

I remember the days of drinking around world showcase fondly. My favorite drink was the Sauternes (sp) in France (even though I am an avowed beer drinker). However, since I lost 85 lbs., I am somewhat of a light weight and can only tolerate about 4 beers (or the equivalent on a Good day!)

Drinking around the world...sometimes known as "InebrieNations"
:teeth:

You can also do a wine tasting in Germany. I think you get to try 5 different wines for $10. ::yes::

DH and I tried on our last trip to Drink around the World. Well we made it half way. We certainly had a blast though. It was one of our best memories. It really wasn't the drinking that made it fun. It was the things we got to enjoy that we usually pass by. We walked around slowly while drinking and enjoyed alot of street entertainmnet. We browsed the different pavillions and had a great time just being together in WDW.

Looking forward to doing it again, but not this trip. This will be our first trip with kids so we will hold off until another time.
