Drink Question for the Resorts

Hello Everyone,
This may be the wrong place but I hope not. We just returned from POR and I noticed that in the CS Food Court that they didn't have Powerade on the drink/soda island (refill section). We stayed at A/S Sports last year and they had it available. Is this a difference between Value and Mod or has Disney done away with Powerade. Trying to decide where to stay next year and this might make a difference.

Thanks
Jeff

My parents where there (All Stars) the first week of October and they had Powerade .

I was at the CSR the following week and no Powerade , so I assume this is only at All Stars for some strange reason.

Since they have a lot of the sports groups (pop Warner etc..) stay at All Stars it is possibly cheaper and more profitable for Disney to offer this instead of bottles.

Probably not as much call for Powerade at the CSR.
I would prefer it to soda though.
I'll just have to stick to the filtered water.

Another Powerade lover here.All-Star Sports always has some flavor of Powerade.I get great value from my refillable mug on Powerade alone there!:)

Powerade is REALLY high in calories and is not a health drink. Unless you are running a marathon every day it really isn't needed in your caloric intake. WATER is the best hydration. While sports drink taste good they are killer on the waistline.

Cool, Thanks for the replys. When we went last year we took Gatorade and Powerade with us to stay Hydrated at the Parks. It was nice to be able to come back to the Resort and hit it up in the Food Court with the Mugs. Weird since it is a Coke Product.

Yeah but , "It's got what plants crave. It's got electrolytes." ;)
(Sorry I could not resist this is a quote from a cult comedy Idiocracy)

A 12 oz Pepsi has 150 Calories, 0 Fat, 35mg Sodium, 41g of carbs
A 12 oz Powerade has 117 Calories, 0 Fat, 80mg sodium and 29g of carbs

Yes water is way better than both.
Powerade seems to be slightly better than soda unless you are concerned about sodium.
I think the sodium will help you retain water.

Diet Soda may be better, but I do not trust some of the ingredients.

They had Powerade at POFQ the first week of Oct.

I guess we should have stayed at POFQ instead of POR. Thanks for all the info on the resorts.

This is a little OT but I just had to reply due to personal circumstances. I am very sensitive about the sports drink issue.. I have a chronic disease that goes into remission sometimes but most of the time, is active. During some periods, I am nauseous and vomit a lot. Also everything coming out the other end faster than a Japanese bullet train. (sorry- tmi) anyway, I drink these drink during these periods per doctor's orders.

I was at a small shopping centre in 1998 (I will never forget, it scarred me for life) going to get prescriptions filled at the pharm. I was walking toward the pharm and sipping a powerade. Some guy who was with his mom said "look at her! Powerade is supposed to be for ATHLETES! " followed by a loud noise. His mom just kind of mmmm-hhm'd him. Now, he was only a teen and I;m not sure if he intentionally wanted me to hear, but I almost went up to him in tears and given him another perspective. For some reason it affected me profoundly . People judge, judge, and judge some more without knowing circumstances. I have even had people tell me I don't look like someone with Crohn's disease because I'm not skinny enough. Thanks for that as well!

And, even if you don't have a big sob story, i think enjoying the flavor is good enough reason.. coke drinkers don't report to the pop police, and its higher in cals and carbs as pointed out, and far less hydrating.

Some resorts have things on the drink stations that other resorts don't have. BCV had Coke Zero and OKW didn't. AKL had Fresca, at least they used to. I don't recall any other resort having Fresca.

I pretty much drink Diet Coke to the exclusion of anything else (yes I know other stuff is better for you and more hydrating but water bores me - so I am not going to listen to any advice urging me to drink that instead - and I detest energy drinks) but it's nice to have the Zero available for a change.

I am not saying that there aren't positive uses of the product, but it disturbs me how Disney (and so many other food service industries) provide such things with so little nutritional value and no other options. They push these mugs on people and people here just gush how "great" the mugs are and talk about kids going to that machine 3 and 4 times a DAY on a trip and downing all these sugary drinks. (That is over 600 calories in drinks alone) Unless you are literally running around World Showcase 5 times a day water is a better hydrator for the average visitor. Maybe a single Powerade pick me up in the middle of a super hot sunny day, but sipping a high calorie sugary drink all day in lieu of water is just crazy.

It should be noted that the mug is 14oz and holds even more calories than your 12oz example.

I didn't compare the labels but I was shocked at the sugar content of the Vitamin Water. I switched over to the PowerAde.

We drank a lot of water but mostly flavored them with Nestea pkg. I drink lots of water but FL isn't close to our water. I much prefer it flavored when in FL.

The resorts do carry different pop. I was at POR quite a bit so my niece could see the chef she had last year at Pop. At POR they had Barqs and Caffine Free Diet Coke, which I didn't see at Pop.

My point was that it is better overall then the soda IMO, even if slightly.

As for the 12oz vs 14oz does that really matter? Most people put ice in the cup first so it may be more like 10oz.

I do no know about anyone else but I have never had a mug pushed on me.
In 20-30 trips I have never bought a mug or even been asked if I wanted to buy one.
I only got it this time because it come with QSDP.
Even then I had to search it out, they don't just give it to you.
If they were pushing it on us why does it not come with the DDP?

If parents allow their kids to get sodas 4 times a day that is their choice.
I don't let my kid have more then a 8oz soda on the rare occasions I allow it, but I'm not going to tell someone else they can not have 2 liters of mountain Dew a day.
I also do not want Disney making the decision for them.
I do not want a situation like the lousy hot dog and hamburger roles that have been pushed on us by the nanny state.

The next question would be what do they replace it with. Orange Juice? 4 glasses of orange juice a day is not that good for you either.

As for the OP he simply asked why there was no Powerade.
I wondered the same thing. I drink 2-3 liters of sparkling water a day, every day.
I'd like something different on occasion.
Since they will not fill the machines with tequila, I think it is reasonable to ask why some places have Powerade and some do not.

They had it at Assp last time we were there.

Does disneyworld sell gatorade also? We never really had a need for it in the past so we never really looked for it. I know at Disneyland we could not find any gatorade except for at the hotel and we didn't bring any with us which was a pain.

We are going to WDW in june and I need to drink at least a bottle of gatorade or powerade a day when i am walking that much in the heat (yes...drs. orders). I can drink powerade if that is all that is available but it has coconut oil:confused3 in it which i try to avoid for allergy reasons.

Is it readily available at the parks? I really don't want to order it from garden grocer since it is the only thing we would order.

No Gatorade on-property-only Coke products.:)

The prior post is correct - the only drinks served on WDW property are Coca-Cola products, and Gatorade is not a Coke product. WDW sells Powerade (sports drink) and Full Throttle (energy drink), both Coke products. To get Gatorade you will need to acquire it from outside Disney property.
