Accroding to Cast Portal at WDW:

Drink prices are to be reduced in June at WDW Quick Service locations as follows
from $2.50 - $2.00 on the following:
- 20oz Contour Bottle of Soda (Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite)
- 20oz Contour Bottle of Minute Maid Lemonade
- 20oz Contour Bottle of Nestea Ice Tea
- 24oz Sport Bottle of Dasani water

Powerade will remain $2.50

Thought you might like to know...this is evidently a test for the month of June...hope it sticks!

*edit...sorry, allegedly this is only at MK and AK

Let's hope they stay that way.....we'll be there on the 28th and I'd hate to see the prices go up while we're there!

How strange, if this is indeed true. Because people seem to not have any complaints about paying $3.50 for those same bottles of water and soda at our local movie theaters, yet figure $2.50 is too high at Disney, where they are actually outside, exercising in the heat.

True ... but then you're not paying $50 to get into the movies either. It's all relative.

Not neccesarily true. 2 adults with 2 or 3 kids can easily cost $50+ dollars just for the movie tickets.

True, but Disney is $50.00 per admission.

But a $50.00 movie bill gets a family of four about two hours of entertainment.... if it's a good movie.

$200.00 bucks for the same family at MK gets them what ? 10-12+ hours of entertainment. Sounds like a bargain.

You learn something new everyday. This may be the first time I've ever read or heard where people think that the drink prices at Disney and the local cinemaplex are not worthy of complaint.

Hence, my comment "It's all relative." What seems expensive to one person may seem reasonable to another, given the circumstances. The bottom line is ... no one is forcing you to purchase sodas at either place, and you actually have more leeway in this area at WDW than you do at the movies. Many movie theatres will not allow you to bring in your own food and beverages to offset their incredibly high prices. At Disney, you can bring in your own food and drinks, or you can bring in your own filtered water bottle and fill up for free at the many water fountains dotted throughout the parks.

Rule to remember here ... if the soda is too expensive, don't buy it. End of problem!

No one is saying they're not worthy of complaint ... this is a comparison discussion, not a complaint-based argument.

Here's somthing, I was at "Holiday World" in Indiana a couple weeks back and they have stands throughout the park that are self service where you can get FREE DRINKS! They also have free sunscreen in their water park area. I have a feeling though since Pepsi is a sponser there that they are responsible for this. There are restrictions in that you have to use the small paper cups provided at the stands, can't even use the bottles or cups you buy in the gift shops. They also make it clear that "Abuse" of the free drink program will result in expulsion from the park.

Epcot - coke station- If it's free it's for me!!!! (Even if it tastes like _ _ _ ! (Rhymes with free!)

I bet their sales go up- people don't like getting change back and it's easier for WDW to stock up on $$$ than all those quarters.

We just returned from the world and here is the deal. Large Bottles of Water and Bottles of soda are $ 2.00 only at the quick service carts in MK and AK. Epcot and MGM remain the $2.50 they were previously.

They have also started selling smaller bottles of water at select locations for $ 1.25 each.

Hope this helps.

::yes:: :wave:

Just a sidenote but I have always found it interesting that the water fountains at Disney AND Universal are pretty awful. For the most part they spout luke-warm sulfer tasting water if you want to define it as water. Wet N Wild, however, located a mile or so from Universal has plentiful, cold, and decent tasting water at their fountains. The irony is that the one park that customers least need hydration also happens to have the best water. Why don't the conspiracy theorists make themselves useful and tackle this problem? Where is Michael Moore when we really need him?
BTW I have NEVER bought a beverage at Disney or Universal for that very reason. I have, however, paid $4 for a beer at WNW many times. Its amazing what good customer service will prompt you to do.

Blackshirt,
I thought it was me . The water in the parks is luke warm and tastes disgusting. I do not know about anyone else but for a family of 4 we usually got water at least 4 times a day. That came to 40 per day!! I do not care what anyone says that is highway robbery. At the very least, they should give people some sort of award for trying to drink from the fountains.

Also, I get sick when I drink the tap water in fla. Someone once told me that it has to do with the water and minerals being different from those of the area from which you live. I do not know but if you have ever gotten sick from the water then I would say it is not a choice to buy bottled water it is a necessity or shorten your vacation.

Boy, I must have very bad water here in Indiana then. I think that the water at the parks tasted OK. Matter of fact we always buy a couple of bottles and refill them at the parks during our stay.

Just my 2 cents!
